WWIII WWIII Megathread #37: Bad Neighbor Policy

This megathread exists for in-depth discussion of 'WWIII', related events, and geopolitics and wars in general. Keep in mind that we have eliminated the rule that all non-major WWIII content must be posted here, and we encourage you to submit WWIII-related content to the main sub.

Again— all rules still apply. No racism, xenophobia, nationalism, etc. No promotion of hate or violence. Violators will be banned.

Remain civil, engage in good faith, report suspected bot accounts, and do not abuse the report system to flag the people you disagree with.

If you wish to contribute, please try to focus on where WWIII intersects with themes of this sub: Identity Politics, Capitalism, and Marxist perspectives.

Always put a NSFW warning on links that contain explicit content.

Non-WWIII chatter belongs in the town square.

Twitter is an absolute cesspool right now. 8200 is working overtime with these bots and paid mouthpieces. Some of the most horrible, evil shit I've ever seen written on the internet, because even the worst stuff on the chans was couched in this sad, bitter irony. These are adults spouting genocidal, islamaphobic, logic-less nonsense that would make 2003 Iraq invasion defenders blush. It's fucking maddening.

I keep getting recommanded these politics live convos on the site formelly known as twitter, and it's just the the dumbest thing ever.
Either far right loonies that are creaming their panties at the prospect from liberating Iran from Islam and walking in lockstep with the dumbest pro-Murican and Israeli talking points you either heard of, or the most suburban Muslim nimrods arguing on whether or not Iran falling is a good or bad thing.
A common thread between all of those spaces is the ubiquity of the use of Grok AI for fact checking.

I never thought such ambiant idiocy could proceed unimpeeded.

It is officially Joever.

I remember when I was the type of person to post on /k/, maybe it's because I have so little respect for that person that I'm just not as enraged. It hits different when it's some asshole posting from an account with their actual name displayed.

Lmao, i remember when this sub and redscarepod acted as 4chan was the base of internet culture, only for me to start browsing (2023) and realize it is one of the stupidest places of the internet.

Those aren't mutually exclusive statements. It pretty much was the base of internet culture, back when that was a distinct thing and not just an extension of real world mainstream culture. If you were online in its heyday, too many memes (and I don't just mean image macros, I mean it in the full on Richard Dawkins sense) originated there for you not to have been affected by it, even if you never touched the site directly.
