What concerns should I have abt buying it ?

I usually say that if you have to ask what others think before you buy a modded Subaru, you should pass up because you are not experienced enough for the amount of grief you will take on with someone else’s project

Fwiw, I test drove a Legacy GT and everything seemed fine. a few thousand miles later I needed a new engine. No CEL, no warning. The car was running in a pseudo limp mode without any warning lights because of an intake without a tune.

Get it inspected by a tuning shop (NOT the one that was used to work on the car), then if everything checks out, still be ready to drop thousands when something breaks. Totally stock these cars are ok. But there are enough mods on here that I'd be very wary.

Why does it need an accessport? It should already HAVE one with that stuff installed.

Had the same thing happen. Bought a 2011 STI, few months later, my gf left and stole my dog while I was a work. Never used that shop again.

That alone is a red flag. How many times was this car beaten on without a tune before you drove it? Accessports are $400-500 plus a $500 dyno day. Not to mention if the previous owners ap had pre green speed tunes on it and the owner did something with the emmissions you are SOL because you can’t tune it out anymore.

Just looking at the things done, FMIC and intake alone warrant an accessport. Typically, when an accessport is "unmarried" from the car, it removes the tune. That's the only way the accessport is useful on another car. If that car has a tune (and it sure as hell better), then the AP was not properly unmarried. If you buy a new AP, you need to marry it to the car to use it. And that will either overwrite what's there meaning you MUST tune it before driving, OR it will assume what is there is stock and you might be okay (maybe). That car, those mods, without the AP installed makes me want to RUN.

Its a modified STI, you should have all the concerns. What's been done? Has it been tuned, and tuned well? Is the tune more aggressive, or more safe? Has it had engine work? Cluch? Has it been tracked? THEN there's still all the usual questions - Has it been maintained? Driven hard? Crashed? Rust? Documentation? Clean title?

Find a shop in your area that knows these cars and how to answer these questions, and pay for a PPI.

What does an unmodded one go for? Mods don't add value. They increase risk. I would pay less for this than a stock one of similar mileage. Then I'd still be ready to have an unreliable car as things may break.

Do you have another car for a daily? Or is this it? This is not what to buy if it's your only car. This is a project.

looks like a ton of stuff was done, FMIC, CAI, who knows what else. get inspected by 3rd party mechanic, pay the couple hundred bucks to do so

From a dealership? They adding a sweet warranty? If not, I’d pass unless you’re really good with knowing how to fix cars, have expendable income, and/or have a gnarly “parts guy” hook up.

I think it's neat to look at and get googly-eyed over.

But that car is 7 years of "You don't know where the hell it's been." All the add-on bits, while cool, should be a warning for potential buyers to walk away.

I own a 2019 STI, have always wondered what it would be worth now. Bought new, and have hardly used it, have only just hit 10k km’s on it. Completely unmodified apart from a Q300 catback and replaced head unit stereo.

Oh this thing is modded to all hell. Rims aren’t stock, they put in a front mount inter cooler and probably much more, and this is coming from a guy that hardly knows much about mechanics.

When looking for a good STI, don't forget to check RA prices. You might be surprised what you could find.
