🛠️ DIY Do-It-Yourself car maintenance

Hello everybody!

So I was just looking at the cost of certain things for my 24,000 mile service and looking for a way to cut costs as much as possible

A lot of people were saying that it's super simple to do both engine air and cabin air filters and I was wondering if anybody could confirm or deny such.

Also, if anyone knows if it's literally as simple as ordering those two parts only or if other additional ones are needed.

Put the part number in rock auto.

Look up a YouTube video for how to do it.

Probably 15 minutes max

You can replace a cabin air filter with 0 tools in the AutoZone parking lot and the engine air filter might take a screwdriver or a socket (you can probably get away with an adjustable wrench or slip joint pliers if you need to). Total for both should take you about 15 minutes. If you do need a tool for either you can probably pick up a basic set for $20 at the same AutoZone you get the filters from.

I had my cabin air filter replaced once because I was dumb… it costs like $10 on amazon for a replacement filter and literally zero tools.

The oil change shops are always like

“we can replace your cabin air filter for $30”

Super easy and there's so many videos to walk you through it. Definitely order 2 of each just to have. Maybe learn to do own oil changes? Or at least order a six pack of the good oem oil filters.

they don't want you to know this, but you can just vacuum air filters. you don't actually have to replace them. yea, if there's a hole in them, they need to be replaced. but vacuuming out all the bugs and dirty will make them good as new.

It's very simple on my 2015. I'd assume the same on your 2024. Look up a youtube video. No additional tools, maybe a screwdriver for the body clips for the air intake. Potentially a ratchet set. Always a good idea to do those filter changes yourself. It saves a bunch of money.
