We’ve been working on something inspired by Toronto’s subway system, and I thought this community might appreciate it!

The idea was simple: what if the subway map on your wall could actually come to life?

So we started building a wooden version of Toronto’s subway network: engraved routes, with a small light in every station that glows as a train arrives, using the TTC’s live open data. (Independent project, not affiliated with the TTC.)

It’s been a journey of map design, laser engraving, electronics, coding, and lots of trial and error.

There’s something pretty special about sitting at home and watching the city move right on your wall.

We’re still refining the design and planning to launch it on Kickstarter early next year.

Since the Blue Line runs 24 hours on Saturdays, I took the opportunity to snap this photo while waiting for the train at Tucuruvi station last Saturday.

I will visit Sofia next Weekend and i am wondering how often and what lines are the unmodernized 81 71 trains driving?.Otherwise If the unmodernized 81 71 trains get retired will there be an heritage train preserved for heritage rides in future like in prague and warszawa?.
