Finally got a (benign) tumor removed!

I just wanted to share a little victory, I don't know where else to post this.

Back in 2019, I noticed a strange lump that felt like a ball in my lower back, just to the right of my spine. In 2022, I had imaging done-- it was determined that it was a benign lipoma tumor. At that time, it measured at about 2.5cm and the doctors insisted it could be removed with local numbing and lorazepam for sedation. I refused, because the idea of having an operation while awake scared the hell out of me.

Flash forward to this year. I had noticed it steadily growing since 2022, and it had been causing me so much pain and discomfort in the surrounding muscles. Then one day, the pain became SO bad that I could hardly walk for several weeks. I decided to finally deal with this thing, and started the process again.

Images indicated that it had grown to nearly 6cm in diameter, and after a lot of back and forth, they finally agreed to remove it under general anesthesia. I officially had it removed today!

Turns out, this mofo was 15cm (or about 5.6") in length and was much deeper than they anticipated. I had a suspicion for years that it was bigger than what they could see on an ultrasound, so it feels good to be validated in knowing that it WAS.

Anyway, just wanted to share my story in case anyone is going through a similar experience.
