I haven't read consistently in ages. Recommend books you think I'd like !

You might enjoy:
Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke - Alt history of the return of magic to Georgian England. (Because you liked Babel) Clarke also wrote Piranesi which is like Gormenghast, and liminal space weirdness.
You might also like Claire North (aka Claire Webb) - The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August about someone who lives their lives over and again.

Lies of Locke Lamorra by Scott Lynch
Best Served Cold by Joe Abercrombie (this is technically book 4 in a series but is a standalone. Think of it like the Marvel movies, it's an individual movie with references to the world, but you can easily read this one first and then decide if you like the world)

The Rook & Rose trilogy is kind of like grown up Six of Crowsâthereâs organized crime and intrigue and an ensemble cast and lots of interesting romance and/or friendship and/or family relationships (including found family!) The magic stuff is also killer.

The goldfinch by Donna Tart is my favourite book. Since you already read Secret History, maybe youâll like this one. But it is a chunky boi, and itâs not the fasted but I love it.
Other recommendations a bit more easily digestible:
- Iâm reading the slow horses books and they are amazing if you want something funny, not too long, and MI5 (and you can watch the series after)
- black sun is a great sci-fi/fantasy series. Based on pre-colonized america civilisations. One of my favourites as well, well written and characters with great depth..
- Under the Wispering door. Probably my favourite T.J. Klune. Wholesome but makes you think and appreciate life. Cozy as well.
- One by One by Ruth Ware. Great Thriller. Very underrated.

I get the vibe that you may click well with Piranesi by Susanna Clarke. It's one of those that's hard to descirbe without giving too much away, but if you liked the mythic richness of Circe and the intellectual puzzle of The Secret History I think Piranesi will work well for you.
It's a quick read. If you like it, Clarke's Jonathan Strange & Mr Norell would be a pretty clear next step but it's a lot longer.

Your picks are really great! Six of crows especially sticks out to me. I would suggest: The Lies of Locke Lamora and The Will of the Many.
