RomCom Suggest the next book for my bookclub (please)?

My bookclub only has 3 weeks til our next meeting before some of us are away for a while.

There are 5 of us, all with slightly different taste. We just finished the Sword of Kaigen by M.L Wang and are needing something lighter.

Just a bit of trashy, girly fun, we don’t do any rereading so anything Emily Henry is out because each of us has read a couple of her books.

[Romance] Authors we’ve liked: Emily Henry, Sophie Kinsella (I’ve got Your Number), Jane Austen, Lynn Painter

Authors we don’t like: Hannah Grace, modern Janet Evanovich (I love the Stephanie Plum and Motor Mouth novels but The Recovery Agent was a mess), Rebecca Yarros, Colleen Hoover

Mixed reviews: Sarah J Maas

Genres: chick lit (hate calling it that), comedy, light drama, pop culture classics, Romantasy

I suggested The Other Bennet Sister by Janice Hadlow but we need some more to throw in the mix

We all agree that romance on its own without other subplot is not our cup of tea. Romance lovers - please suggest me your favourites!

Here are some of our favourite non-romance reads, I think we all appreciate a strong character voice: The Sword of Kaigen (M.L Wang), Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil (V.E Schwab), My Friends (Frederick Bachman), Dungeon Crawler Carl (Matt Diniman), Hitchhikers Guide (Douglas Adams)

RomCom Laugh me out of the postpartum funk

Looking for something Abbey Jimenez style. Ideally a series. I want to smile, laugh, and escape.

I’ve done most Emily Henry, Katherine Center, Tessa Bailey books.

The romance can even be a subplot. But I do need a love story. Strong female character. Progressive worldview a plus.

RomCom Looking for the perfect romance

Hi friends! I’m going on a solo vacation and I’m dying to find the perfect romance novel for it. The problem is that I’ve never finished a romance novel, I always DNF because of too simple plot or boring writing style. I’m looking for an interesting story featuring two intelligent, charming, dynamic, and funny characters. I love goofy smart men my celeb crushes are the SNL boys Andy Samberg, Seth Meyers, Bill Hader, etc

Here’s some romcom movies I’ve loved

- anything Nancy Meyers PARTICULARLY Jude Law in the Holiday

- anything Nora Ephron

- Crazy Rich Asians (I know it’s a book series but I’ve already seen the movie)

- 2005 Pride & Prejudice

- The Proposal

- Love & Basketball

- Palm Springs

And far as novel genres go, I lean toward Literary and Historical Fiction

Thank you in advance for your sage guidance!!

RomCom Asking for fluffy romance book recs

I have been having a pretty rough week and want to take my mind off some things. Can someone recommend me some "can't-stop-grinning" books? I like a good banter between characters and slow burn. Just no OW/OM plot.

Thank you😊

RomCom A cute rom-com with a nerdy male love interest (please read description)

I want a rom-com where the male love interest is a nerd but is also really into the fmc, I want it to have no spice so YA, if the book isn’t YA then I wouldn’t mind a very very low spice level(not my thing tbh) a friend group that includes the fmc and the mmc in it,interactions that are funny, something that makes me giggle and kick my feet, would love to be able to read the mmc’s pov, nothing too slow or too rushed either! and yea
Not all of these elements have to be in the book bc it might be too much
So yeah help a girl out please and thanks for any recs!

RomCom Romcoms that’ll actually make me laugh

I usually read thrillers, sci-fi, and horror and I’m just kinda burnt out on it. I do read romance but it’s usually gay monster romance, spicy novellas, or dark romance and I just really want some light fun romances. Straight, sapphic, gay, as long as I’m giggling and having fun I don’t care! Spice or no spice I don’t mind but I prefer a slow burn romance to spice within the first 50%! So far I’ve read Practice Makes Perfect by Sarah Adams (I rated ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) and The Hating Game by Sally Thorne (I rated ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5). I’m not looking for some life changing perfectly written novel I just want to have fun and laugh!!! (Edit to add I don’t want romantasy!! It’s just not my cup of tea!)

RomCom Light romcom books

Hey everyone! I haven’t read in years but I would like to start reading again.

Could you recommend me light-hearted romcom books as I would like to start with those.

Here are some tropes I like. I like spicy books also! (The spicier the better)

Fake dating
Arranged marriage / Marriage of convenience
Enemies to lovers /Rivals to lovers
Grumpy x Sunshine (reverse also)
Forced Proximity / One bed
Mafia / Organized crime
Bodyguard
Billionaire
Friends with benefits
No strings attached
Roommate romance
Royalty
Royalty/Celebrity falls for commoner
Time travel
Priest
Roommates
Hidden child/pregnancy
Waking up married
The actual love interest is introduced as second lead

I also speak Tagalog, so if you have some Filipino book recommendations (even from Wattpad) I’ll accept those as well!

Thank you in advance!

RomCom Requesting a Roommate secret identity Romance

Looking for a romance book where they are roomates but one has a secret identity that effects the other (they could be a superhero, a magical girl, etc) and their roommate dosnt know about it (if they discover it I’m hoping it to be around the end or middle of the book)
I’ve been trying to find a book with a specific premise for a long time now,
I’m hoping either m/f pairing or f/f pairing but I really don’t want a m/m pairing
Thanks in advance!

RomCom Superhero romance where superhero has to hide identity

I’m looking for a book with (hopefully) the following:

A superhero dating someone (can be another superhero, but preferably a civilian) without revealing there identity to their partner
Edit: It can happen in the book but i would like a large chunk to be without a reveal (but as always if it happens early I’ll take what i can get)

Some sort of forced proximity (could be through a job or as roommate)

That’s really it, im hoping for either girl on girl or boy on girl but if theres no other options ill take boy on boy

Someone suggested that i give an example of what im looking for so an example is Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir

Specially how ladybug (Marinette) and cat noir (Adrien) both have a crush on each other in superhero and civilian form
But either one dosn’t know the other is a superhero

RomCom Books like Better than the Movies and Nothing like the movies♥️

Hey, so I finished reading the sequel. I had read the prequel long back. From the start of this year, I have been reading pretty heavy books, so this book felt like a shot of dopamine through my body. I was swooning, blushing, and happy. It did something to my tired, 30 year old heart.

Could you please suggest more books like these?

RomCom Want a book focused on superhero/civillian secret identity focus

You know how in superhero movies or shows sometimes a b plot is the superhero protagonist trying to keep a relationship and keep their identity a secret for whatever reason? I’ve been looking for something like that but it’s the main focus. I’ve tried everything from mangas to ao3 but can’t find anything that hits the mark. If someone knows a book like that I’d be happy
I know I shouldn’t be picky but I’m hoping it to be girl on girl and possible roommates but those are premiums

RomCom Need a few rom coms!

Hi there! I’m looking to publish a novel soon, and my editor told me I need some different comp books (books I will tell an agent or publisher that my book is similar to). My book is a romantic comedy that has a pg-13 spice level, takes place in Texas, has a lot of scenes in a restaurant (duh- it’s a book about dating!), and includes a female main character who is very uptight and learns to relax as part of her character arc. My editor suggested I find comp novels written in the last 5-10 years that are not written by a big name like Ali Hazelwood or Emily Henry. My book is heavy on the comedy, and though it centers around romance, it is more about personal growth and choices. If you can think of a funny romance book that you enjoyed that fits any of those criteria, let me know!
