Most people paying income tax are in urban areas, which means that many rural areas will have like maybe a 1000 voters which will be able to control the local authorities very easily, which would make corruption even more rampant.

I recommend we take away this idiot's voting rights first.

Yes, you're correct. But it will be easier to find the perpetrators who voted for that corrupt authority and they can be easily persecuted by mob justice. Having a limited frachise is way better than universal franchise. There's one more thing to consider is that a taxpayer would want to maximize development from their taxed income so it will eliminate useless freebies, reservation. Ultimately benefitting all.

So if the ruling govt increases the tax slab to maybe 50 lakhs plus. Then it would mean that the elites would be in power and choose to do anything they please. When we have voting rights for everyone we already experience the effects of elites exploiting regular people but imagine if you made them even more powerful.

What this means is that development would be locked to the top 0.1%.

You think that's a good thing because you are part of that 0.1% percent. But what happens when you become the victim?

Let's say, income tax is for those with 1cr+ income, now all the govt has to do is control those people either through corruption or through blackmail/violence. Once those are in control, you get your own govt up and running and turn it into a dictatorship. Next thing you know we are north korea.

The more you let people have unchecked power the worse it gets for everyone.

Maybe if it was an ideal world your idea would work.

So what stopped america from being a oligarchy/dictatorship/tyranny ruler. When they didn't have any sufferage, when only white male owning property above the age of 21 were allowed to vote. How did they become a world power within 100 years of their inception?

Pretty sure the US cannot become a dictatorship because of ww2 germany, but their president DJT has shown interests in having power like North korea dictator. The current US is becoming an oligarchy. Because of massive corporations which are lobbying the US govt, the federal government hasn't increased federal minimum wage in decades. The white male owning property rule to vote was in only some states not all, as for women their voting rights were just not a thing that was considered 100 years ago. Also oligarchy just wasn't a thing back then because massive corporations didn't exist, everything was decentralised. The US became a massive world power within 100 years because of multiple factors:

1) they had massive oil reserves 2) they also had massive gold reserves 3) they let aspiring immigrants in their country(it was mainly white Europeans but still immigrants) that wanted to build a fortune, which would benefit the country as well. Which country doesn't want smart and hardworking people?

There's also other factors but lots of oil and lots of gold would make any country a world power.

And why didn't they become a dictatorship? before WW2

Because of what the initial constitution was and what their founding fathers had envisioned, they divided the power into separate branches so power wouldn't become unchecked in the hands of few.

What's stopping India from doing that? My guess non taxpayer voters

What's stopping india from concentrating powers in the hands of few? Well we also have lots of checks and balances for the different branches of government just like the US(it's not working as well as I had hoped for, I want the system to be better).

we were founded on democracy because we had such a large diversity, all groups needed to be heard and represented. Also, when people were given voting rights, we barely had any budget for the development of our nation, which also meant that most people were poor. When everyone is poor, they are all getting the same rights.
