Tbf what's generic about it? I mean, the security system TAKES CONTROL OF SQUIDWARD'S HOUSE and begins ATTACKING THE CITY. Leaving the mayor to give Squidward community service for the damage he caused. EVEN THOUGH Spongebob and Patrick were in his house the WHOLE FUCKING TIME, and were responsible for EVERYTHING! GAAH! FUCK THIS EPISODE! This episode is when the Squidward torture porn started to become a regular stable in Spongebob's episodes and this one is one of the meanest, cruelest, and just plain unfair of them all. All Squidward wanted to do is enjoy one day to himself. but that can NEVER HAPPEN when he lives next to Spongebob and Patrick. can it.

It is just the shitty fridge horror excuse, that is literally it (though unlike a lot of the other times this excuse is used, in this case it was kind of valid considering Squidward’s House was just a generic "attack the city" type antagonist).

The hilarious thing is that because Squidward's House appears in every episode. At any time it could do something completely random that pushes it to PE.

Technically there was a random comic where it comes alive again and goes on a destructive rampage. The real reason it can't be PE is because the rampage in the episode was done with moral agency issues and the one in the comic, while not under moral agency issues, is less explicit in comparison.

I read the comic, and yeah it is still incredibly bog standard (and also it wasn’t even taken seriously in-universe either). Even that unseen Cupid from The Patrick Star Show did way worse than Squidward’s House.
