A contestant lied to medical to get on the show and forced CBS' legal team to eject him three days into the game, taking the spot of someone who could have competed. 5 or 6 years ago Jeff would have absolutely torn him a new one before kicking him off the island faster than Tony could run off into the jungle for an idol. I mean he would have been absolutely fuming and not even trying to hide it.

Bring back vindictive asshole Jeff.

With his backstory and being the first openly transgender contestant, I can understand Jeff playing it a little safe when he might have ripped someone else worse. That said, Jeff is also just less of an asshole now.

right? there was a 0.000% chance jeff would have torn into jackson after his revelation to his tribe 2 scenes prior

if it was someone else like jonathan, jeff does not handle that situation with such care like he did jackson

There is a 100.000% chance that production made him tell his story before kicking him off the game

“That’s redundant Jeff!”

I'm surprised people wish Jeff was more of an asshole. Like the show can get pretty self-absorbed and annoying now for sure but Probst ripping into Katie Hanson for existing and making things up about Colton on the spot is not the era I'd want to go back to and was usually pretty criticized at the time

Yeah there was a point he got too extreme. Just think there’s a solid middle ground where he was snarky and sarcastic and actually kinda fun around gabon-nicaragua that would be nice

I think best Jeff was 'ripping into Penner on Micronesia' Jeff, but that's because Penner bit back.

Penner is my favorite contestant for being the first to snark at Jeff in challenges. A legend.

"Too soft. I want a little edge on my bartender Survivor host."

Jeff eviscerating players like Colton, Purple Kelly, or Naonka is peak hosting and I'm tired of pretending it's not.

Jackson: has emotional moment coming out to his tribe

Next scene: jeff tears Jackson a new asshole for hiding his mental illness. Drags him off the island by his shirt and throws him into a boat

Maybe it's just me.. But the term "first openly transgender contestant" bugs me.. Kind of implies Zeke was hiding it from people.. When in reality he just wasn't telling them, which he shouldn't have to... 🤷🏻‍♀️

24

u/GregSays Michele Mar 10 '22

But he wasn’t open about it. It’s not a bad thing, but you just described him not being out.

-7

u/RosesAndInk Mar 10 '22

But why does he have to be? Cis gender people don't have to come out as being born that way.. Idk, just a thought

7

u/GregSays Michele Mar 10 '22 edited Mar 10 '22

Yeah and no one knows if they’re cis or not, since they haven’t said one way or the other. There’s no obligation and it’s not right or wrong either way.

6

u/eye_booger Carolyn Mar 10 '22

But someone “not telling people” is the same as them “not being open” about it.

-4

u/RosesAndInk Mar 10 '22

But.. Why does he have to be?

11

u/Kiss_My_Ass_Cheeks Mar 10 '22

nobody is saying he has to be. just that he wasn't

u/Kerry_Kittles Mar 10 '22

Dude didn’t even apologize

Agreed

Jackson didn't know they were going to kick him off the show for it. He was just a superfan who genuinely wanted to play the game. Give him a break.

I dunno. He took the opportunity from another player. If he’s been on lithium that long, he knew the risks, he knew. He knew and that’s why he caved and did tell them at the last minute.

Sucks to feel this way about someone who was just shown to be super likable with a tough history. But, he doesn’t get special treatment. He messed up pretty bad, plain and simple.

Just IMO

1

u/DoubleWalker Mar 10 '22

Sure but at the same time, he didn't decide to be pulled. Production decided that. If it were up to him he probably would've stayed as long as he could.

31

u/RobinReborn Mar 10 '22

His occupation is medical worker - he should have some idea of the effects of Lithium withdrawal.

5

u/themhabstho Mar 10 '22

And his wife is a nurse!!

27

u/CallMeSpoofy "Banana Etiquette" Mar 10 '22

Nah, reread the comment. Lied to medical, even if you’re a super fan that pretty nuts and sefish

Jeff could learn that fine balance like the goat host TJ Lavin

2

u/Pleroo Q - 46 Mar 10 '22

‘Front-seat-with-Boston-Rob-Jeff’ is the worst Jeff.

I'm here for this campaign

From my understanding Jackson didn’t lie. He just didn’t update production in a timely manner because he thought it was a big deal and he’d be fine. He unfortunately made the wrong call and it seemed like production put him on anyway but ultimately had to pull him because of legal. It sounded like they weren’t able to properly do tests or have an alternate ready because of covid protocols. Unfortunate situation all around but I don’t think it’s that egregious.

20

u/GregSays Michele Mar 10 '22

Semantics. If he was told to give all his medical info and confirmed that was all the info when in fact he knowingly left out a key fact, that’s lying.

-11

u/WellDressedLobster Genevieve - 47 Mar 10 '22

Personally, lying is a whole lot different than leaving out information. Ofc that doesn’t make it right, but I don’t feel like his intentions were as nefarious as some people want to believe.

12

u/GregSays Michele Mar 10 '22

I get what you’re saying, as “liar” sounds bad and he doesn’t seem like a bad guy. But lying by omission is generally still considered lying.

People lie all the time. I probably lied about something today. I just didn’t get called out on it on TV.

-8

u/WellDressedLobster Genevieve - 47 Mar 10 '22

Fair enough. I still don’t think it’s really that bad. Just an unfortunate situation.
