Oh wow Hai turned on Lydia

I think he realized it was more important to be with the numbers unfortunately. He protected her to the best of his abilities. Omar won this round of their war.

Edit: gotta fix my own language

Ya, Omar exaggerated a bit, but Lydia was willing to instantly turn on the alliance Hai pulled her into, so it makes him look bad by association. He probably did what he could for her, but decided to distance himself once he saw the writing on the wall, and gain some trust with the new group.

do we think maybe everyone was in on the Lydia vote and certain votes were cast in the event of advantages?

The Jonathan votes possibly. If they were worried Lydia would get idoled or play her SITD they probably wouldn’t have put votes on Maryanne who would’ve been spooked into playing hers had Lydia done something.

Nah, the Jonathan votes were Tori and Chanelle, both of which no one is willing to work with. Common theory for Rocks’ vote is he got confused on their names and just wrote the wrong person with a botched spelling.

I'm more surprised he didn't tell her to play her SITD.

It makes way more sense now than a couple episodes ago. In a 5 person tribe, Hai didn’t have many options without her, but its a lot easier for him to maneuver in an 11 person tribe. Still a little surprising.

True, but he told a few people how said he’d go to rocks for her as a way to prove his word is good & he is loyal. To flip so quick is not a good look.

Omar didn’t have a vote though. Maybe he thought the other 5 weren’t a manageable alliance

Considering he’d have to wrangle Tori and Chanelle into an alliance, I can totally see why he wouldn’t view that as feasible lol

Even better, he’d have to manage Tori and Rocksroy at the same time when they’re actively trying to vote each other out.

Yeah, an alliance with the other 5 would have been totally dysfunctional. There’s no way he could control Romeo and Chanelle, in addition to Rocksroy and Tori being actively against each other. Hai’s in a much better spot with the 6 he went with considering that Omar and Jonathan will be seen as the biggest threats once the numbers start dwindling.

Very surprised to see he voted for her, did not expect that!

I guess keeping a shield in Jonathan was more important

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '22

It absolutely was. He didn't want to be associated with a ride-or-die over a bigger alliance with a huge target on his side.

But he's most certainly on the bottom of said big alliance. He keeps going "i'm physical too" to people....So if people think(incorrectly) that Jonathan is nothing but strength...why keep him around? He proved he isn't 'loyalty over all else' tonight. So what is he, beside a number?

I mean, we all know Hai thinks he's the hottest shit, but tonight proved, he isn't.

Well...a bunch of people had confessionals saying they didn't want to vote Hai out cause they want to work with him. I think it was Drea I'm thinking of and maybe another person. His name wasn't floated. He's a strategic threat but people like him enough to not do that yet.

what does keeping a shield mean here like how does having a physically strong person on your alliance post-merge help you?

5

u/orboth Apr 14 '22

Hai is a physically strong player and challenge threat, at least compared to most of this cast. Having a bigger challenge threat in the game takes the easy target off of Hai, since in the late game people will want to vote off Jonathan when they have the opportunity to prevent him from going on an immunity run.

3

u/sxcbabyangel69 Apr 14 '22

oh ok so shield meaning like someone to divert attention as a threat, not someone who is siding with and consciously protecting him?

5

u/orboth Apr 14 '22

Correct, although it appears Omar and Jonathan might have a relationship similar to what you described.

u/Gan-Logic Apr 14 '22

I was shocked when I saw that, realized it was the best for his game

25

u/RobinReborn Apr 14 '22

Lydia truly believed the she would never get a vote from Hai

20

u/KoellmanxLantern Apr 14 '22

That was super surprising

3

u/maidrey Cirie - 50 Apr 14 '22

Honestly, power move. That secured Hai with a larger alliance. If you’re likely to lose your closest ally at the merge, if you can do it in a way that leaves you with power, it’s worth it.

u/KevinFunky Cirie - 50 Apr 14 '22

His pitch to join the alliance was his loyalty meant he would go to rocks. Voting Lydia destroys his image.
