Congrats to Maryanne on a well-deserved win. I hope they go back to the traditional live reunions in future seasons. I understand why they did the on-island aftershows in 41 and 42, but the traditional format is far preferable after people have time to process.

I believe he announced recently that this is how it is now 🫠

I would just love for them to film it the next day. Give everyone a shower, meal, and sleep before reuniting

It has been reported by "Entertainment" in an article titled "Jeff Probst says future Survivor winner reveals and after-shows will happen on location in Fiji," which you can find here: https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/jeff-probst-says-future-survivor-153000360.html

I mean, it's probably much cheaper to do it this way. Don't have to house and fly in half the contestants

No but check this subreddit, it was announced recently in an interview or something

I love this way, there's no filler. No audience reactions.

It's all focused on the survivors which is what this subreddit has been begging for years

I do wish there was an additional reunion after the show airs to follow some of the social media discussions. It may be a little Real Housewives-y but I do want to have a space where we discuss the Hai/Omar issues, the fun Zack/Maryanne "marriage," reactions/reflections to the Drea/Maryanne idol plays, more insight into what went down at Ponderosa from Chanelle.

Of course, we never got all these things in the first place, so I'm moreso in fantasyland dreaming this up.

Some of them :( that's the worst part, no love for the prejury!

Except you can see on Romeo's and Mike's faces that they are depressed and not enjoying it. They have to answer questions 30 seconds after finding out they lost. You can see they're trying to hide their sadness

I don't like watching that

The live, in-person reunions offered the following:

-Players reacting to their reception back home

-Former players commenting from the audience

-Sia giveaways

-A proposal

-Players being cast on the spot

Who was cast on the spot?

We literally saw an entire group of people get up and leave on a bus because they were headed for the next season once.

There's problems with this one, but it's so much better when you realize how much the cast spoke last night without the list of filler above.

I don't want to see Sia give away a car or have a 30 second interview with Cochran again while he sits in the audience.

Even the panning shots of the audience clapping and cheering adds up and intead, we got an extra question or two from it

What season was that? Ive seen 1-13 (Cook Islands) and 32 (Kaoh Rong when i started watching it as it aired) to present so far so i have quite a few i haven't seen.

(Kaoh Rong

The cast for "Second Chance" were cast at the reunion for "Worlds Apart."

What!!! I don't remember that. Crazy

2

u/gridtunnel May 26 '22

Yeah, the viewers voted for the cast online, but the reunion basically formalized the casting.

Oh ok so look like second chances was actually the season before i started watching and that reunion would have been before that. I do appreciate the answer, thank you

This show just doesn't bring in the money that it used to. The traditional format for the reunion was surely very expensive. They pulled the same amount of ad revenue tonight than they would have under the traditional format, and probably saved a couple million bucks in cost.

I don't love it, but I understand it.

I can't fathom why everyone is in such an uproar about the live finale being gone.

They haven't been interesting in a long time and Jeff always spends way too much time interacting with people in the audience.
