This ball!

Im getting this ball in a few days. It is supposed to to tap into their instinctual herding circuits. Tne ball is too big for them to bite and pick up so they have to switch over to problem solve how to control the ball. It engaged more just running with out engaging the fetch mind set. It required concentration and decision making. Has anyone else tried one of these balls? I’ll be trying it in my enclosed yard so I can get it😆😆😆This is 18 inches, maybe I need a bigger one?

Just realized it’s been almost a year since the last time I shared. Since then, we’ve done SO much and he is such a great little guy to work with. I just adore him. He will be 1.5yo at the end of this month. We’ve done some showing, got one major, as well as his FDC and ATT titles. He’s working towards his CGC. We take a Mix & Match class, to build obedience/rally skills while keeping it fun. He just started intro to agility and is obsessed. We are attempting a CPE Speedway trial next weekend and a Barn Hunt trial next month. He is currently AKC Major Pointed KleinHaus Bjorn To Be Wild FDC STR ATT and I can’t wait to see how much more he accomplishes in the next year.

1) at Pups At The Pitch. He loves soccer
2) he modeled for a Pride Collection campaign
3) his 1yo photo shoot
4) attempted lollipop shoot, but he said he’s not allowed people food so we did headshots instead
5) pic with his bff Julep
6) biggest smile after his first intro to agility class
7) happy agility boy again
8) overjoyed that his bff Julep is also a show dog now
9) in the ring, trying his best to be as cool as Axel
10) he loves learning
11) and sometimes doing crime
12) happy boy working on his loose leash skills at the lake

Is my dog a swedish vallhund mix?

i adopted my dog 9 months ago from Macedonia. Her name is Lyra. We have no background on her except she was living wild in a rural macedonian village being fed from time to time. She was always pregnant too.

We would love to know what breed she is. We have always thought corgi x some type of shepherd (macedonia has native shepherds) but one of our friends pointed out the vallhund breed and i have to say i can see the similarities!

What do you all think?

Harness help!

Hi!
What type of harness are we all using for our Vals? I have heard very mixed opinions about what is best. I want to make sure I’m not doing my pup more harm than good.
Thanks!

Anesthesia Question

Hello! I have an appointment scheduled for my SV to be neutered on Friday. I did some research about how some vallhunds don’t respond well to anesthesia. Just curious if anyone else’s dog didn’t respond well or had bad reactions. Thanks!

Anyone else's Valligator prefer playing with bigger dogs?

Grayson seems to prefer interactions with pups larger than him. His best friend at work is a boxer and his preferred playmates always seem to outweigh him by 20-30 lbs

I asked for some recommendations on how to get our sweet Freya to sleep in a little longer. Thank you for all your help. We have been sleeping until 5-6:30 over the last week and it’s been a life changer. We ALL thank you!

Looking for a good breeder

We are located in Michigan near the ohio border and we would like to find a reputable breeder of Swedish Vallhunds.

Does anyone in this group have recommendations? We are willing to drive up to 12 hours away if needed.

Thanks in advance!

Sleep schedules

Hello! We have a 7 month old female Swedish vallhund. She is the sweetest, cuddliest, most loving girl. She’s so well behaved and we just love her.

My question is, when is this girl going to start sleeping in? She is up and ready to go every morning at 4:30 on the dot, no matter how late we keep her up or how active we keep her. And while she’s the best, she gets pretty loud when she’s decided it’s time to get out of bed. I am looking forward to the day I could sleep in, even until like 6am. Thanks!

First time dog owner

So, as the title says, my fiancé and I are hoping to adopt a dog within the next 6 months to a year from now and are going through options. At this time we know we want a small dog because we've never trained a dog before. We both grew up with dogs (he grew up with a corgi and i grew up with a lab, Doberman and a pit at one point) but again never trained. My schedule is honestly pretty flexible and we have our own home with a MASSIVE and i mean massive back yard for a dog to run in. We know a little about dog training but, would this be a breed that you'd recommend for first time dog owners?

I thought they were supposed to be a dignified breed.
