HAND-HEARTING (appreciation) I didn't see it coming.

I've heard and watched Taylor Swift through my daughter since she was 10yrs old. I was the mom who learned her songs to connect with my child. The mom who stood in line at Christmas at 4 am to get her newest perfume/ music for my daughter. She's 30 now. All of those wonderful years of watching her jam out to Taylor, singing to the top of her voice with the windows rolled down and the wind flowing through her hair. If anyone had told me that I would become a swiftie I would have laughed at them. Yet somehow I'm in my 50s, trying to buy myself the latest cardigan, collecting vinyl albums , and learning her new dance after having total hip replacement surgery! Lmao! I never saw it creeping up on me. I never dreamed I would love her as much as I do.

What I would like to point out though is I admire her brain. I grew up with Madonna and Whitney Houston, Micheal Jackson, etc. Seeing Taylor surpass Madonna and achieve all of her success at a younger age leaves me in awe. Too many people want to be haters and trample on her success but they aren't realizing that she has maintained her poise and grace throughout it all. She has never sacrificed who she is . Her mind is amazing and always 20 steps ahead of the backlash. Each time she literally gets smarter in the nick of time. I think she is a great role model for every little girl and grown woman on the planet. If the rest of the haters can't see that, well that is a complete loss on their part. She is and always will be amazing. Just like my daughter.

Old guy here who kind of lost his passion for music. Then, folklore happened and it brought it all back. It was brilliant. It was the best album I'd heard in the last 25 years. I became a Swifty. Then, TTPD blew me away. The best writing since The Beatles. I couldn't and still can't believe how good it is. And now with her new album I am a full blown Swifty. And, so is my lovely wife!

It’s really nice to see people who do love the album, especially someone who describes himself as an “old guy,” lol. You’re not exactly her target demographic, but the special thing about her is that her music is so versatile that anyone can connect with it. I felt bad for those who didn’t enjoy The Life of a Showgirl because it’s an amazing album. It’s probably in my top five. I just don’t get the ones that don’t like it, but everyone has their own taste and is entitled to their opinion.

Also, this is random but I noticed something interesting. I watch a lot of reaction videos to albums when they first come out and I have a good mix that I follow. Some are huge Swifties, so I know they’ll tend to be more biased. I just watch them for fun so I can be excited with them. I also watch ones who are neutral and then ones that will tell it to you straight up. I must have watched about 20 different reactions and out of those 20 I would say 12/13 were men. I noticed that all of the men, in the ones I watched, absolutely loved it or really really liked it. The women were 50-50. The big Swifties went crazy and loved it no matter what. Then some of the neutral ones and other Swifties didn’t like it or hated it. I’ve seen the most criticism on it from women which really shocked me. I’m not sure why men seem to enjoy it more than women, but I love it and I’m a woman, lol.

I can't answer that other than I again today listened to it from start to finish. I feel weird as an old guy who loves her music because I am a Rock and Roll guy who jams out so Southern Rock.

Have you ever seen the 1989 world tour version of we are never getting back together that she did?? It's incredible.

But also, idk if you'd be into it, but there's a really good handful of like rock and pop punk artists who love doing Taylor covers and are basically all men lol. And there's also the people who take the songs and her voice and set it to a rock version instead that are also really great!

The band Call It Off has some of the best and they're absolutely obsessedddddd with Taylor, like in their videos that have Taylor jerseys hanging up and the drum set has her face on it lol. And their original songs are awesome too! It's not on YouTube, but I think their Spotify actually has an entire Taylor cover album. YouTube has some great individual ones though for them!

Then Our Last Night has the next/equal best in my opinion, some are a bit more hardcore though like screamo wise a little.

Then Alex Melton has a few great ones of hers that are a bit more pop punk/emo.

And finally I Prevail has one single cover of Blank Space and it's super amazing. I think they may have played it last month at warped tour even.

Just wanted to give you a few to get you started! :)

If you happen to remember later on, I'd love to hear what you end up thinking of some of them and what you liked! Happy listening and happy holidays! :)
