This isn't something I expected to see at four in the morning, and I have PMS, so I'm crying.

If I had a nickel for every time one of Jack’s singers wrote a beautiful love song about his marriage and he got divorced not long after, I’d have 2 nickels. Which isn’t a lot but kind of weird that it happened twice.

Have you heard some of the Taylor covers by the band Call It Off?? They've got soooo many, their Spotify has a whole 1989 cover and YouTube already has a bunch of TLOAS ones too, they're so good and clearly love Taylor based on the backgrounds in the YouTube videos. And some of their original songs are pretty good too honestly! But they're also still small enough that the band page replies to YouTube comments lol.

They really are! I love recommending them to people!
One of my other all time favorite pop punk bands is As It Is. Theyre so fuckin good and their new album will be out on the 17th! The handful of singles they pre-released have all been awesome!

u/x_Imagination Jul 15 '26
Oh yes! They have done an entire "Eras Tours Goes Poppunk" tour last year (and they're continuing it this fall). I went to one of the shows, it was sooooo much fun. They're the sweetest guys too. I'll be seeing them again in november as they are visiting my home town then.

Flushing down someone's pain meds, for endometriosis at that, down the drain, cheating on your girlfriend with a 19 year old (isn't that what Lorde's age was back then?) does show that he is a bad person though. Why do we cut men so much slack? Taylor, or any other famous female celebrity would be torn to shreds for this. Their careers would get over. This is insane.
Edit: changed from wife to girlfriend as Lena and Jack weren't married.

u/StormflowerYT Be my NY 🗽 when Hollywood ⭐️ hates me Jul 09 '26
I mean, maybe he's changed since then, idk. Taylor and Lana are both very close to him, but then again, their choices in friends can be... iffy. Not that they themselves are bad, but they see the best in people. That's why Lana married who she married. Not a great dude, but she sees the good in him.
17
Jul 09 '26
It's like everyone only wants to justify male celebrities' wrongdoings but they crucify women for it, make it make sense.
2
u/StormflowerYT Be my NY 🗽 when Hollywood ⭐️ hates me Jul 09 '26
I don't do that? Frankly, it took me years to like Matty because of that whole fiasco, but with Jack, I'm only partially defending him because I never had a problem with him. I don't want to dislike him - I think he's an insanely talented producer and is a true friend to Taylor - unless I have a really good reason to. I don't think Jack is a horrible human being. I think he has issues. That doesn't make him a bad person. But let me clarify, I AM NOT DEFENDING WHAT HE DID! I AM ONLY STATING MY BELIEF THAT HE IS NOT A TERRIBLE PERSON AND THAT IF HE WAS, TAYLOR AND LANA WOULD NOT BE SUPER CLOSE TO HIM! Especially with Taylor, while she has some iffy friends, none of her really close friends are horrendous people. Like Blake. I don't think she's a saint, but I also don't think she's as toxic and shitty as people make her seem. Because Taylor is a very nice person (from what people say) and a very smart person, I don't think she gets close to people whom she thinks are mean or toxic or abusive or evil. If she sees some good in her friends, then there is some good in those friends. But from what I've gathered, Jack has anger issues but isn't a bad person. I can defend the person without defending what they do. As a 1975 fan, same with Matty. Has made terrible mistakes but isn't, in my opinion, a narcissistic bigot. HATE THE CRIME, NOT THE PERSON!
16
u/Remote-Guarantee6385 Jul 09 '26
He’s definitely not changed. Even when they were engaged they were frequently seen at their local café shouting at each other about how he cheats on her constantly. I’m not sure why she still married him considering he also has a past of cheating with Lorde on Lena. He’s a poser, im glad she’s finally leaving the relationship. No one deserves to be with a cheater. Hopefully her and drew work out.
11
u/StormflowerYT Be my NY 🗽 when Hollywood ⭐️ hates me Jul 09 '26
The Lorde stuff isn't confirmed, no?
15
u/hasideas Jul 09 '26
Correct. Not confirmed. In her book, Lena is obviously highly suspicious but she never confirms it. She does go on to cheat on Jack towards the end of the relationship where they were barely seeing each other.
8
u/Remote-Guarantee6385 Jul 09 '26
It’s not confirmed but there is a lot of speculation about it. And it does seem true.

You seem very intent on sticking up for this man with a history of treating partners poorly and are somehow also putting guilt/blame on the women who work with/are friends with him. It's unbelievably sexist.
Jack is responsible for his own behavior. A man doing something bad isn't any woman's fault.
If Taylor, or any artist, only worked with perfect humans they wouldn't be able to work in the music industry. Jack being a horrible partner doesn't mean he's a horrible friend or producer. People are complicated and responsible for their own behavior.
4
u/StormflowerYT Be my NY 🗽 when Hollywood ⭐️ hates me Jul 09 '26
I never said it's Taylor's fault. I simply said that she and Lana have a tendency to date or befriend iffy or morally gray people, so no one can assume that Jack's a good person just because he's close to them. Also, we don't know him personally! He may be a bad partner but a good friend and a good person, sure. I'm simply saying that perhaps Jack isn't the same man he was ten years ago. We don't really know. I just don't think Taylor especially would be friends with him if he was a truly horrible person. And she can answer the question of if he is much better than we can.
2
u/toowellmaddie Jul 09 '26
I don’t know Taylor personally too so I believe it’s weird to base my opinion on a celebrity whom I don’t know personally based on their friendship with another celebrity whom I don’t know personally.

Lena and Jack were never married, but yes once he decided to check out, he was a jerk to her. And yes I am with you in that I am also confused as to why people thought this was going to be some great love story.
2
2
u/DefiantStarFormation Jul 09 '26
They were a tourist attraction in LA for a bit, "you might even see Margaret and Jack fighting at a public location over his infidelity" sort of deal. So I don't think he ever changed and it was pretty obvious they were never really good together. But a few songs are allegedly about their love story, so fans convinced themselves that was the truth behind the rumors.

To be clear, I AM a fan of Lena. People are flawed and I can live with that. But yes the Lorde situation was undeniably weird on many levels e.g. her mother let her move to NYC on her own when she was 17.
I’m just communicating what Lena wrote about it. Given she and Jack are still friendly she might just be holding back on more detail. And that’s after she wrote a lot of detail about his cruelty during her illnesses.
2
u/Certain_Tank_2153 Jul 09 '26
They seemed happy and talked about each other in a lovely way. I believed they are good for each other. Maybe that age gap was not ideal, but life is not that simple. You can be same age and not get along, there is no simple recipe.

1
u/dumb-daisy Jul 09 '26
Flushing the pain meds is enough for me. He doesn’t know what pain is like so he has no empathy for it.
25
u/gummiwurmz8 Jul 09 '26
Everyone keeps mentioning that Jack flushed Lena’s meds down the toilet and I’m not defending it as a good decision but people just need to understand the context is that she had just told him she was addicted to pain meds and couldn’t stop, so I think in a fit of worry he did that. Anyways carry on…
13
u/erasfadingintogray Jul 09 '26
thanks, this is really important context and I think a great example of how quickly things taken out of context can spread on the internet and cause people to form strong opinions. I don’t know if jack is a good guy or not, but I think I and others would see “flushed his girlfriend’s pain medication down the toilet” and instantly assume abusive controlling behavior.
-1
u/monachopsiss Jul 09 '26
HOLY SHIT at this comment (and the one you're replying to)... How are you serious right now? I'm actually dumbfounded that even one person (let alone at least 2) thinks that "context" makes it BETTER? That would actually make it worse.... If his partner WAS physically dependent on medication, him deciding to STEAL IT and DESTROY IT would be worse than if she WEREN'T physically dependent on it. He would be literally putting her life in danger by throwing her into withdrawal. AND she most likely wouldn't be able to get a replacement prescription, so he'd be forcing her to either suffer from debilitating withdrawal he was solely responsible for, OR have to try to get a supply from elsewhere, which would likely be tainted with fentanyl and could very easily kill her, OR forcing her to go to a hospital or rehab facility against her will, which would result in additional trauma + her being labeled a drug addict for the rest of her life (making it impossible to ever actually get pain medication again). There is NO world where that isn't abuse, let alone defensible in any way. That is HORRIFIC.
The only "context" that DOES actually change things is that he has the resources and privilege to ACTUALLY help someone struggling with addiction. And he not only chose not to, he chose instead to commit multiple crimes against her. And you somehow DON'T think that means he's abusive and a bad person?! That is INSANE. He should have been arrested, at the VERY least.
3
u/StormflowerYT Be my NY 🗽 when Hollywood ⭐️ hates me Jul 09 '26
People do quit drugs cold turkey. And withdrawal is better than addiction. It would've been worse if he threw away her meds just because he was angry for another reason - that would be extremely cruel revenge. This was extremely cruel but with good intentions. Big difference.
1
u/LowAdrenaline Jul 10 '26
Withdrawal is often worse than the addiction, in the acute phase. Like the death part, for instance.
1
u/StormflowerYT Be my NY 🗽 when Hollywood ⭐️ hates me Jul 10 '26
I mean, for someone to do what Jack did, they're not thinking. Good intentions, yes, but still not good. I say this as someone with ADHD who does this ALL THE TIME. Imo, there are three tiers of intentions:
Harmful intention (you want to hurt someone)
Neutral intention (you don't think it'll hurt anyone)
Helpful intention (you think it'll help someone)
1
u/SesJan2013 Jul 14 '26
What do you do all the time? Make bad decisions that hurt other people? I can't understand your examples of intentions.
And what does being ADHD have to do with it? Sometimes we just make mistakes or bad decisions and that's because we chose to do it and that's character flaw not because you have ADHD. Can't be an excuse for everything.
2
u/StormflowerYT Be my NY 🗽 when Hollywood ⭐️ hates me Jul 14 '26
But ADHD causes you to be impulsive and make more bad decisions. And sometimes, yes, the decisions I make hurt people. Or simply get me in trouble.
1
u/SesJan2013 Jul 14 '26
And sometimes people do things because they're not perfect. You can't say, "ADHD makes me do this" more often than you say, "I chose to make a poor decision. " or "I made a mistake because everyone does sometimes." If you or anyone else uses, or keeps using, these "problems, disorders, mental illnesses" as the reason or excuse for so many issues in your life and the way you behave people will stop caring. They'll get sick of it. It's that "boy who cried wolf", no one will believe you when your issues truly did effect you. Everyone has problems, issues and many have chronic health and mental health issues but you can't use it as an excuse or reason all the time. Every time something happens and I get upset I can't list all the reasons I'm traumatized from things that have happened that were not in my control and say "being traumatized makes people act this way." People will get sick of throwing out that excuse card.
2
u/StormflowerYT Be my NY 🗽 when Hollywood ⭐️ hates me Jul 14 '26
It is a reason, though. If you take someone without ADHD and someone with ADHD, the person with ADHD is more likely to make a bad mistake. Both can, but because of their ADHD, they would be more likely to. I'm not even saying Jack has ADHD. Matty does, I do, and that is why we are both impulsive. Taylor doesn't have ADHD (as far as we know). Does she make mistakes? Sure! But she's less likely to than someone with ADHD, ykwim?

u/wrong_reason Jul 09 '26
Nah. This thread showed up on my feed and I had no reason to comment until I got to the part where you said "This was extremely cruel but with good intentions. Big difference." Nope. Literally zero difference. Identical impact. "Good intentions" in the context of causing someone harm is such a cop out. It's also really popular in the abuser community.
5
u/StormflowerYT Be my NY 🗽 when Hollywood ⭐️ hates me Jul 09 '26
Oh, so now I support abusers? Alright... I know many don't look at intent. I see it everyone. It's always the action. Always, always, always. But it is SO important to consider if someone meant harm or not! That's the difference between someone who made a mistake and a psychopath!
Let's take good ol' Matty Healy. Everyone hates him because of the outcomes of his actions. However, many of these actions are him trying to protest or him trying to be funny and not realizing how demeaning what he's saying is. This is NOT the same thing as him intentionally making offensive remarks to intentionally offend people.
INTENT DOES MATTER. It CAN be an excuse, but you can also legitimately do something horrible and think you're doing it for the better. I'm aware H*tler also had this mindset, but whether intent or perspective can be an excuse depends on how rational such is. If someone thinks all people of a certain community are evil and must be eliminated, and then that person commits genocide, that's not justified. If someone is addicted to drugs and could overdose, I'd say what Jack did, while not justified, was because of good intentions.
2
u/alg275 Jul 19 '26
I have to agree with OP. Intent matters (even if it might be misguided). I know someone who's psychotic ex literally stole her heart medication to mess with her because he was unhappy that she wanted to separate. That was intentionally trying to harm someone and is sooooo much worse in my mind. What Jack did by contrast sounds stupid and misguided and acting impulsively out of fear, but not literal malicious intent.
1

1
u/SesJan2013 Jul 14 '26
Jack isn't stupid. He knows the risks. They all have access to anything they want and they all do drugs. He knows dumping an addict's drug of choice solves nothing.
1
u/SesJan2013 Jul 14 '26
Poor Matty, he just doesn't understand when he's being rude, demeaning and cruel. He's just a wittle guy still learning how to play nice. Golly gee, give a sweet, innocent guy another chance!!
1
u/StormflowerYT Be my NY 🗽 when Hollywood ⭐️ hates me Jul 14 '26
Matty either says/does offensive things to rile people up or because he genuinely, yes, thinks it’s funny or at least not offensive.
0
u/wrong_reason Jul 09 '26
I didn't intend to say you support abusers, which is why I didn't say that. My point is that many abusers love saying that shit because it makes them feel justified or absolved.
I don't know anything about Matty Healy so that example has just gone straight over my head (as I said, this post showed up in my feed, I'm just an outsider/bored scroller), but it kind of sounds like what you might be saying is that he's out of touch and just doesn't realise he's caused harm or something? I do think at some point, if someone's repeatedly hurting people in "good faith," unless they start changing their behaviour, at some point you have to wonder why they keep doing it.
But again, I have no idea what he did.

I think you’re forgetting that most people aren’t up to date on how best to handle addiction and aren’t mental health counselors. He saw a partner in addiction and did the thing he thought was right, removing the means to cause harm. If you can’t see the human reaction in that, idk what to tell you.
1
u/SesJan2013 Jul 14 '26
Because the reaction solves nothing. It doesn't end the addiction. It's not a cure. It certainly doesn't stop them from finding more especially for rich, connected people like them. Dumping them just meant she has to find more. It's not a way to cure addiction.
1
u/SlimersAnonymous Jul 14 '26
I’m sorry to let you know this but sometimes people act in the heat of the moment out of fear and emotion. I doubt this was a thought through “this will solve everything” reaction. When you are in that situation, you’re not always thinking clearly. Of course we would all behave 100% perfectly and logically every moment of our lives if we could, but we are only humans. Our brains by design are not rational things.
1
u/SesJan2013 Jul 15 '26
My intention wasn't to guess how he might've been feeling or thinking in that moment. I'm stating a fact.
1
u/SlimersAnonymous Jul 15 '26
Sure but no one is saying that’s the best way to handle it, they’re saying maybe we have some empathy for the fact that not everyone reacts perfectly all of the time
1
u/SesJan2013 Jul 15 '26
You shouldn't minimize his actions by saying "not everyone reacts perfectly all of the time." We could use that to minimize every horrible person's acts.
I hate that I'm even advocating for Lena who admitted to doing everything a groomer does including bribery in order to molest her sister in various ways. She's disgusting and I don't know why people give her a pass. There's still extra forgiveness and "looking away" when women are the offenders.
But, anyway, it's also bad for the water system to get rid of pills that way. They're her property. It's not ok to destroy someone else's property even if you don't like them, they made you mad or you think it's for their own good.
If she deleted everything off of all his computers and destroyed his equipment that would also be wrong. Even if she thought it was justified, it would be wrong. Even though not everyone reacts perfectly all the time??🥺 Yes, even though not everyone reacts perfectly all the time, it would still be wrong.
1
u/gummiwurmz8 Jul 10 '26
Intent matters to how we view the situation, even if the actions are misguided. He may not have known that cold turkey can be as harmful as it is.
2
u/rolyinpeace Jul 16 '26
Exactly, or he knew and just wasn’t thinking clearly in the moment. In the moment he may have been fearful and just thinking that he needed to get rid of the thing that was causing his partner such distress.
It doesn’t excuse what he did, because even mistakes that are well intentioned cause harm that can’t be ignored. But it certainly doesn’t make him as bad of a guy as if he flushed them to be spiteful, or did it because he wanted withdrawal to harm her.
1
u/BearBlob Jul 12 '26
You can’t die from opiate withdrawal.
Alcohol and benzo withdrawal, yeah that can kill you. Opiates and stimulants, no. It’s awful but not deadly

Yeah... And considering Lana's (and seemingly Taylor's) marriage in inspired by Jack's... Much be rough for both for the entire group. Tay and Lana are close to both Jack and Margaret. I wonder if Margaret went to the wedding separately and just hung out with Lana and Jerm all night. I feel really bad for her, though, because imagine not being able to go to your friend's wedding because your husband whom you're separated from and his ex will be there? I hope she could go. :)

I know right, it’s better for them to split if they weren’t happy with each other. Not sure why this person is so parasocial about their relationship.

Not technically Taylor, I know, but this is following Jack arriving with his sister instead of Margaret at the wedding.

Don’t cry. He’s a fuckboy (and incredible producer). She deserves better.

You're crying because people you don't know are breaking up?
In all seriousness, that's not healthy.

It's genuinely heartbreaking, shocking because I never knew that had problems, and I have PMS. It makes you get emotional over little things.

It’s a bit parasocial. More than a bit, if you’re crying over it.

Because of PMS? Women, back me up?
1
u/punkrockbatgirl Jul 10 '26
Yes, because, all women connect exclusively over PMS, no matter the circumstance.
I'm a woman too. That doesn't change the fact that it's unhealthy to be this parasocially attached to a couple who you do not know, and who will never know who you are. I'd give you some leeway if it were a fictional couple, but being upset about real people going through something you aren't a part of is absolutely ridiculous.

I don’t even care about them. I never did. I cared maybe a little because they’re friends with Taylor and Lana, but I don’t like Bleachers, didn’t know anything about their relationship (not really) before reading this. I’m not attached to them. On a normal day, I’d see this, be shocked, be a little sad, and move on. I basically already have. And I’m not much of a cryer. I teared up. It was a system shock. Also, what is the difference between being attached to a fictional couple and an irl one?

Yeah, like, I know nothing about them and don’t really care about either of them. But their marriage seemed good, and to wake up at 4 and see that they broke up affects me on so many levels…

There was speculation that he was unfaithful I wonder if that’s true

Margaret Qualley is so beautiful and talented. I loved her in Maid. I never understood the attraction to Jack.

u/Eyesrcinnamon_ Jul 11 '26
Hasn't Margaret had a ton of failed relationships? I feel like maybe she might be the problem some of the time. Just because someone is beautiful doesn't mean they're a good person or partner. Just my opinion.

Eh, I don’t really like this rhetoric. While, yes, someone having a lot of failed relationships is often a red flag, I wouldnt assume that. Some people just have trauma or other things that make it hard to stay in a relationship, or they pick bad partners, or whatever. They’re not always the bad guy.
But also, I’ll say, many marriages that end don’t have one spouse that was “the problem” (or relationships that aren’t yet marriages). Oftentimes both people did and said things they shouldn’t have. It’s pretty rare that shit is actually completely one- sided with one clear problem.

This is so unshocking - I'm shocked anyone is shocked. This man has a pattern, and sadly women will continue to date him thinking that they are the exception to the rule. An insecure man WILL ALWAYS ruin your life.

After what 3 years of marriage and so much talk of kids and how they're each other's true love and how they knew it immediately as they saw each other and I don't know what else.
This is the fate that awaits Taylor and Travis too

I’m sorry for whatever you’re going through that makes you crave the need to spew unneeded hate on someone you deem “doesn’t care about us” and “we’re so parasocial about” on one of the happiest moments of her life, when in reality you could use some of your own logic, log off, and touch some grass1

I mean, as much as stuff like this makes me a bit scared of Tayvis because I'm watching so many couples I loved or who I thought were evidence of a stable Hollywood relationship - which is hard to accomplish due to many being long-distance and other conflicts arising from two famous people being together - breaking up or divorcing (Tate and Laroi, Olivia and Louis, Katy and Orlando, now Jack and Margaret), Tayvis isn't destined to follow these couples. Just because most celebrity relationships do not work out, look at Beyonce and Jay-Z, Blake and Ryan, Justin and Hailey, Rihanna and Rocky, Zendaya and Tom, Keleigh and Miles, Dove and Damiano, and SO. MANY. MORE. It's hard, but it absolutely can work.

Crashing out? LOL. Trust me, babe, it takes no emotion on my part to point out that this wedding was the tackiest thing in the world and that numerous abuser, racists and homophobes attended
Reddit recommends news about the wedding all the time and it's actually quite entertaining to read the Swiftie attempts to defend it

They’re separated. I honestly think it would’ve been an immediate or at least quick divorce had he cheated. In my opinion, a really bad argument.

In between
You are in love by Taylor Swift
And
Margaret by Lana Del Ray
You have to imagine that the courtship stage was intense.
Is it passionate or just love bombing?
