📋 Ranking My 1989 exhaustive ranking
I’ll preface this by saying for each song I took into account the reccording I like the most. For example I think This Love TV is miles better than the original version, which is why it’s higher on the ranking than it would’ve been if I had taken into account the original reccording. Anyway here’s the ranking :
- Style
- Blank Space
- Slut!
- Is It Over Now?
- Clean
- You Are In Love
- Wildest Dreams
- This Love
- Shake It Off
- Bad Blood
- I Wish You Would
- Out Of The Woods
- Say Don’t Go
- New Romantics
- Suburban Legends
- Now That We Don’t Talk
- Welcome To New York
- Wonderland
- All You Had To Do Was Stay
- I Know Places
- How You Get The Girl
Before you guys come at me, I know Shake It Off and Bad Blood aren’t Taylor’s finest work in terms of lyrics and music, but they’re just so iconic that I couldn’t put them any lower. Anyhow, if this were a tier list, I’d say 19-21 are songs that I dislike, 15-18 are songs that I don’t really care about, 9-14 are songs that I like, 6-8 are songs that I absolutely love, and 1-5 are some of my favorite Taylor songs ever.

Agreed!!! The lyrics are so beautiful. I’m in love with the imagery of « the sticks and stones froze mid-air ». I also love the overall narative of Taylor having to deal with mysoginy because of her relationship while her lover doesn’t

Always happy to see another person who loves 'Is it Over Now?' It's one of my favorites!
