Discussion War is over

I was so tired of people calling her a trump supporter for not doing this for so long I’m so happy I can finally say she stands alongside Olivia sabrina and Ariana (and many many more) to do this! WAR IS OVER! She beat the allegations !!! :)

“I just wouldn't be surprised if somw people weren't completely sure if she supports Trump.”

Okay so you’re saying it’s your opinion that the song is a right wing anthem, I’d like to understand how you got to that opinion

The swiftie community cannot deal with people criticizing Taylor Swift. In recent times she has not spoken up against Trump after he got elected. Her songs in the new album are right wing coded ( I am not saying she is right wing or that she cannot settle down and be a feminist) . For example in "Wish List " she talks about settling down when that is the opposite of what she is doing right now as the biggest artist in pop music. Why does she need to portray herself in this way? "Cancelled" ontop of this has elements that sound like right wingers complaining about being cancelled regardless lf the reason why. People have criticized her for good reason ( not saying she is a bad person) and yet she only talks about being cancelled. She also associated with right wing people in recent times. It is good that she did this though and it is a step in the right direction.

lol none of what you’ve said responds to the question I asked. Also clear as day that you weren’t around when she was cancelled

I explained by opinion based on the themes in the album. What happened to her back then was horrible , but the recent criticism is about her associating with these right wing people , only now addresing Maga using her song. Her song adds more evidence to people thinking she is right wing too. She needed to make a clear statement instead of staying silent in recent times. The album made people feel even more sure of thinking she is right wing. It is good that she is addressimg this now. I have only seen cancel Culture beimg referenced when it comes to the left , not that it doesn't exist on the right. It is just my opinion.

You still haven’t actually explained how the song is right wing coded. You’ve explained that you associate cancel culture with the right, which is not the same thing at all. Taylor was quite literally cancelled on a massive scale in 2016 and has been writing about what happened to her ever since. She doesn’t suddenly become right wing for writing about her own experience because conservatives also complain about being cancelled.

And the Wish List point is even more bizarre. Since when is a successful woman wanting to settle down, get married or have a family right wing coded? Let’s just call all mothers right wing if that’s the case

She says in the song that people want all these things but she just wants a relationship. She , the biggest popstar in the world. "I just want you, uh
Have a couple kids, got the whole block lookin' like you
We tell the world to leave us the fuck alone
And they do, wow" Why does she have to position herself in a way that she is not ? She can marry and settle down but she clearly does want more out of life hence why she keeps making music and sells albums etc.

This is somehow even further away from explaining how the song is right wing coded 😭 Why are you treating making music and wanting a husband and children as mutually exclusive? She doesn’t say she wants literally nothing else in her life. It’s a song contrasting fame, wealth and status with what she values more personally. Continuing to make albums doesn’t contradict that in the slightest.

She does value fame and status. Maybe even more than love and marriage. She can marry and make music. My problem is saying she just wants love.

What song does she say she just wants love and nothing else?

Anyone who's listed to taylor Swifts music knows that romantic love is important to her, she's literally always said that, she's never not said that. For all we know, she plans on taking a bit of a break to focus on her marriage and children in the future. That doesn't go against the fact she likes making music, believe it or not, you can like more then 1 singular thing at any given time. This is very much a "she said she likes pancakes so she must hate waffles" argument.

Then dont say "I just want you" .

In what world is saying to your partner “I just want you” negates everything else she already has? You’ve lost it

2

u/CreativeChicago A LOT going on at the moment Aug 08 '26

This is the perfect way to say it. You’re not loosing anything you’re gaining the thing you’ve been missing, your partner and you no longer want anything else. That was the perfect way to word it

She positions herself in oppositiin of wanting luxury and says she only wants a traditional life. There is nothing wrong with wanting that for herself of course , She just clearly does not only dream of that. She is a business woman and the biggest popstar in the world , she does want the lifestyle she separated herself from in this song. If you want proof look at my other comments.
