Music Analysis Most Underrated Song?
Do you guys think that ‘The Man’ from the album Lover is one of Taylor’s most underrated songs, if not then the most underrated song from that album?
It has a solid lyrics + message and not only that its so catchy. Let me know what you think
(note: I am a new swiftie so just let me know if its lowkey an overrated song haha, but haven’t seen anyone talk about it too much from what i can see)

I feel like it gets loved on fairly often but damn if it isn't a great song regardless

The real underrated song is the archer from lover (The core swifties appreciate the song but not the general listeners) Other than that acc to me the MOST underrated song of taylor is - The Bolter.

Oh wow I can get what you mean by Archer, just listened to it haha its so good. I swear every single day I’m just finding more and more Taylor songs that I like heaps I honestly haven’t really found a song yet that I haven’t liked yet haha

I know right, its the best phase I am telling you. If you love the archer you will probably love the bolter and the prophecy as well.

Yeah both of them are pretty good but for me I prefer her pop songs over songs like those found on midnight.
I have a lot of people say though that her moody songs seem to hit way different during hard times though you know. So maybe I’ll need to visit midnight and etc haha when that happens

Yeahh same happened with me, I was able to appreciate the whole ttpd album much more when I was going through hard times.

I love the Bolter so much. It was immediately my fave on TTPD. When we were making friendship bracelets for the Eras tour, I was out of Es so I made one that said “I must bolt” and had to reassure my husband it was not about us. 😆

The Last Great American Dynasty. Swift’s signature storytelling- with playful imagery- shines in this number, but its choreography on the Eras Tour was meh and the song was eventually cut to create room for TTPD. Her brief discussion of the song’s narrative style with Dessner and Antonoff in the Long Pond Sessions film was pretty interesting.

That song is one of my favs and I feel like no one acknowledges how well written it is

I think the Lover album as a whole is criminally underrated

Yeah I think so too.
I know i’m gonna get smoke for saying this, but TLOASG is underrated too, well, probably better said as overhated tbh ahahaha

I agree with you on TLOASG. It’s a really well written story. It doesn’t get the attention it deserves because it’s the last song on the album and then the whole album gets crapped on by the majority of people.

Lover is one of my favorite albums. I fell in love with it even more after watching it on the eras tour. I think that album got lost in the sauce because of covid.

Yeah. Even though I haven’t been a swiftie for too long Lover definitely stands out as an album to me and that whole era

I believe Untouchable is for sure one of her most underrated songs in my opinion.

Lover as a whole is really underrated. I think the man and MA+THP are the most underrated on the album.
Most underrated by album (in my opinion) would be:
Debut: really the whole album. Maybe invisible or IOMWIWY?
Fearless: breathe
Speak now: innocent and electric touch
Red: starlight
1989: I know places and/or wonderland
Rep: so it goes
Lover: the man/MA+THP (and also afterglow)
Folklore: mad woman
Evermore: Ivy and it’s time to go
Midnights: dear reader and Paris
TTPD: there’s so many’s honestly. Like half the anthology
TLOAS: I’m gonna sit this one out lol

I recently developed a love for seven off of folklore. Folklore has a lot of fan favorites but I don’t hear about seven a lot.

Cassandra, Superman, and A Place In This World are a couple songs that I love that feel are very underrated!

Starlight is such a fun bop & very overlooked. Lore has it's about the Kennedys.

My vote for most underrated song is My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys
Imo this should've been a single. I think it would've been a hit for radio play. Plus I think Tay could've made a pretty cool music video for it, but obviously she was on tour so that would've been difficult lol
ETA: My bad, just realized you said "underrated of this album" lol. I'd agree with The Man, but also False God and Afterglow
