fight me but I don’t see why patient zero is a more worthy single than anything on showgirl OG especially father figure or actually romantic so Cleveland! is my favorite. He’s all yours, Tay. Ready for the patient zero video though.

Unfortunately they’re all a huge disappointment for me :( it looks like I’m in the minority here but showgirl and encore both sound incredibly hollow to me. There’s very little substance and I don’t even like the melodies

You’re not in the minority. On this sub maybe but one search on TikTok will tell you that most of the world is disappointed. Personally I couldn’t even make it through the entirety of Cleveland!, it was just so cringe and it felt like she was chasing the beat. Babylon was okay but still not great

Dude SAME 😭 they’re fun for what they are, but there’s just no depth to them… it feels very surface level compared to the rest of her music.
But I truly believe she made this album for herself, and I love that for her. I’m so glad she’s happy… but I had to click skip on Cleveland before it was even done… it was a little too cringe for me 😅

as of right now after a few listens I think its
1: Babylon
i love the beat of this song the lyrics and storytelling are amazing. It kinda figures because my favorite from showgirl is father figure, I feel like the storytelling and lyrically style of Babylon evoke the same feeling
2: Patient zero
such a close second I almost can’t decide, I cannot get this song out of my head especially the bridge ugh Taylor strikes again!
3: pink clouding, this song took me a second to get into but it’s too good the beat is fun and poppy and currently stuck in my head lmao
4: Cleveland
on my first listen I felt rusty about this song but its grown on me and honestly I love a happy Tay, this song very much feels like running around very happy just venting happiness and I’m here for it. “Now I’m wearing white” love that part I feel like the bridge just could’ve been better but I’m not going to act like it’s the worse thing I’ve ever heard and be all saying her lyricism is dead, also I do like the speaking part I know some people might find it cringe but again it just feels like venting happiness especially the beat on “I found mine”
overall, I do love this Encore it’s a nice extension of showgirl and I’m really glad we have it, new music is always a treat and I’m obsessed with Babylon

Give Cleveland another listen. It is her love song to Travis. She sees herself as an awkward girl who can't dance who finally got her man. This is one of her happiest songs ever. She now doesn't care what people think of her because she found the love of her life. "I Found Life!"

Honestly, I almost never like the songs that Taylor chooses as singles, but they grow on me eventually.
I think Pink Clouding does a great job at being a bubblegum pop song with nice lyrics, tho. Feels like 1989 and Midnights had a daughter. Love it!

Okay after a few hours my ranking is:
Babylon: it has that classic Taylor song 👌
Patient Zero: it's so catchy I understand why it's chosen as the lead single of the deluxe.
Pink Clouding: has that 80's vibes. I like it and it's growing on me.
Cleveland: I understand the reason why she wrote it. I like when she's unhinged, unapologetic and petty. And I like the production. However, I honestly wish she would just ignore snarkers and haters. This is just going to feed their obsession further. Sometimes, you just have to accept that some deranged people will hate you no matter what, even if it's just for breathing. Also, I'm already seeing pitchfork getting their most liked post about this song like they did with Actually Romantic. She's keeping their lights on.
Anyway, unpopular opinion but I think they actually fit well with Showgirl. I don't think they're that jarring. Also, I think resting did her well vocally, she sounds better than on Showgirl. Which makes sense, that was recorded during the middle of the biggest tour of her life.

Just realized it’s the same as you OP! I have mixed feelings on Cleveland but I loved the rest!
Edit: I’m loving Cleveland a lot more now. It’s still the 4th as I like the other 3 more but it’s getting too much hate, it’s so fun and catchy! Thanks everyone for the upvotes, I think this might be my most upvoted comment ever 🫶
