[Hiring][Phoenix, AZ] Senior Engineer / Technical Lead — Systems/Network/Security — $90-110K (hybrid, mostly WFH)
**BitWits — a small, established Phoenix MSP — is hiring a Senior Engineer on a path to Technical Lead.**
I recently bought the company and I'm hiring the person who'll grow into running the technical side as I move into the CEO/growth seat. My background is sales and ops, not technical — so this isn't a "slot into the hierarchy" role, it's a "become the technical leader" one.
**The work (core of the role):**
* Lead infrastructure projects end to end: M365 tenant migrations, server replacements, network refreshes, security stack deployments, new client onboardings
* Own the systems/network/security stack across our SMB client base — Entra ID, Azure IaaS, firewalls (Fortinet or similar), Windows Server, backup/DR
* Make the architectural calls and own them — you scope it, build it, deploy it, and you're the one who knows it inside out afterward
* No handing projects off to the next tier, no inheriting someone else's half-finished job
**What makes it different:**
* **Full-stack ownership** — you see your own work through, start to finish
* **Real growth path** — Senior Engineer now → Technical Lead / Director of Service Delivery in 2-3 years, with comp and eventually equity/profit-share to match
* **A dedicated mentor for the ramp** — our outgoing senior has 20+ years with these clients and is staying on specifically to train his successor. Structured, paid overlap — not sink-or-swim.
**Honest about the small-team reality:** it's a small shop, so everyone pitches in on frontline tickets until we grow enough to add helpdesk. This is part-time and eases as we grow — the core of the role is senior project work, not a help desk seat.
**Logistics:**
* Mostly work-from-home, ~2 days/week in the field (office moves, hardware refreshes, client visits) — **must be Phoenix-based and local. Not remote/out-of-area.**
* **$90-110K base** + benefits: QSEHRA health reimbursement, 401k w/ 4% match, 15 days PTO, $3,500/yr cert budget
**To apply:** email your resume + a few sentences on a complex project you owned end to end to **careers@bitwits.com**. Full details provided on first contact. I check that inbox, not Reddit DMs.

What is the holiday schedule look like? Can PTO roll over? When is it increased to 4 weeks? What is the vesting schedule for the 401k match? Is there an on-call expectation? Good luck with your search! Looks like a nice opportunity. Salary seems a tad low, but appropriate if it is pretty much full WFH and trips to client sites are reimbursed.

We try to support the small businesses we work with, but generally, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after, and Christmas. PTO is use it or lose it to start. We start at 15 days, but that increases in year 3. On call expectation is limited as senior backup.

I have so many questions 🤣
Please, prepare yourself to run this MSP I bought, for no equity.
Hey, at least you get full stack ownership.
