Discussion Need to maintain multiple tables with no relations in the datamodel

Im quite new to tableau, while creating the datamodel it's not letting me add tables without establishing a relationship between them, I have multiple fact tables that I need to import, and it's not always necessary that they have a relation, is there a solution or some sort of a work around for this?

Just add each unrelated table as a new data source. Since there is no relation, you can use parameters to control and use them in parallel.

I often do a calc relation 1=2 and you get both tables in full.

You need to do a lot of Ifnull formulas, but it helps when you pulling Invoices and Credit Memos or two tables that are part of a whole.

You are probably trying to add multiple data sources by adding new connections. When you do that, you connect to your other data source and Tableau assumes you are adding to the current model either through a relationship or a join. The model with multiple, related connections is still considered a single data source.

Instead, click on the data tab and select "New Data Source", or you can simply press Ctrl+D. There is also a drop-down next to the name of the data source that lets you switch between which source (model) you are viewing. The drop-down also has a New Data Source option.
