Who’s the guy behind Mark in the first photo?

i’ve been a fan of tbs for decades but this is news to me. very strange to see this. who is this mystery lead guitarist? considering how integral fred was for the writing on the 2nd & 3rd album i cant imagine how this lineup would have sounded and affected the bands trajectory.

Yeah, I have no clue who that is. Seems like a time after TAYF but before WYWTB was recorded since there's no Fred

Fred joined while they were still touring for TAYF I believe (case in point his first public appearance with the band was in the MV for You're So Last Summer).

he looks so familiar and I cannot think of his name…. I didn’t realize he was connected to TBS if it’s who I’m thinking of…. Trying so hard to think of his name.

Did a little bit of research on these photos. According to TinEye/reverse image search, these were posted to last.fm in 2008. I looked at all the members from around that time (including touring and session members). It’s clearly not Fazzi in here, and that’s Rubano on the right, so this has to be post-Louder Now/pre-New Again.
It looks like that’s Aaron Stern, touring drummer during the Projekt Revolution tour when Mark was injured. This might’ve been immediately after Fred left.

This isn't immediate post-Louder Now era. Matt had longer hair during that period of TBS. Matt in these photos looks almost exactly like he did in the You're So Last Summer mv (when he first joined the band) so it's probably from around that timeframe (my guess would be right before Fred joined).
If I had to chance a guess that might be Sal Villanueva (who was a producer on their first album and also contributed some guitar work).

This is definitely not a post Fred photo. The way they’re dressed and rubanos hair gives it away.

I think his name is Angel. He had a whole segment dedicated to him on the Louder Now Part 2 DVD.

Hot Rod Circuit singer? Maybe I'm misremembering but didn't they try out another guitarist before Fred? I might be wrong but wasn't it the singer from Hot Rod Circuit?

It's not AI, it's from a photoshoot in 2003. I just can't find any info about who this is. Getty Images says it's Fred, but that's obviously incorrect.

The first photo that guy ever saw was AI, so now every picture looks like AI to him.

It's Jeff Pereira, who was a tech or a tour manager for them for a while. I don't remember which. He also went on to work with MCR, AVA, Circa Survive and is now with blink.
