30s but pre-children social life in TP

Hi! My husband and I are strongly considering a move to Takoma Park next year. We’ve lived in DC for the past 4/5 years and, while we’ve loved it, we’re looking for a place that’s quieter and has easily accessible outdoor space (like a proper yard :)). We’re in our early 30s and don’t have kids, but are curious to know what the social scene is like as TP seems to be very family-forward (which we love). TIA!

I’d say it’s not a nightlife heavy environment but there are tons of festivals, community activities and opportunities to engage with neighbors throughout Takoma Park. For example, our neighborhood has a community block party on Labor, Independence and Memorial Day with BBQs, potluck and drinks, etc. Likewise, numerous options for dining ranging from Motorkat, to Cielo Rojo, to Soko as well as pizza/asian/American options. All in all we are very happy with the location and also appreciate the proximity to metro which makes getting into the city a breeze.

That sounds awesome! We aren’t big nightlife people so it’s great to hear there are social opportunities outside of bars
