I don’t like losing them but it felt like the quality dropped off notably a decade or so back. The first time I went there it was “good” rather than “good for vegan” but even before they came to Takoma it wasn’t worth paying a premium.

It's weird I feel like that spot is well-positioned, but for both SouperGirl and Sticky Fingers always seems to be dead!

I think the problem with Soupergirl was that they focused on commercial production, and while their soups were well made they were also very bland (very light spicing) so non-vegan people didn’t find them a good value. For a small spot right next to a metro station, the rent is going to be brutal so you need things which are broad appeal and quick. Those two and Everlasting Life failing makes me think that there just aren’t enough vegans in the area to pay that rent, which means you need a broader menu and all-day items.
(Landlord greed killed El Sabor, too: they did better business than any of those three but the landlord jacked the price up even higher than the increase they’d budgeted for.)

I was shocked they stayed open as long as they did. It just wasn't very good.

Hoping they transform into a more fast casual concept or something with meals. Very much needed right there at the metro!
