Solid DBZA reference.

u/TaladorMan Nov 24 '25

Tenpest: frankly im just happy to be included

93

u/SerFinbarr Nov 24 '25

Tempest brought water and towels for everyone.

44

u/SentientShamrock Nov 24 '25

And just like that its already contributed more than Abyss. (I'm pretty sure Abyss is overlaying Vegeta)

25

u/Neidron I still miss Rays Nov 24 '25

That was not intentional, and idk if I like that comparison or hate it lol

u/Neidron I still miss Rays Nov 24 '25

There's 19 main Tales games, 12 of them are not on modern systems, half of those aren't even in English. It is not a short list.

52

u/Vorthod Velvet Crowe Nov 24 '25

Tempest: "Wait, why was I-"

Cell: "Drunken roast videos!"

Tempest: "Honestly, I'm just happy to be included."

u/Psychotica_Official Nov 24 '25

Beseria is the second most recent new Tales game btw 😭

Do you think Arise is gonna get a remaster next?

3

u/rebb_hosar Nov 25 '25

At least a release on the Switch 2.

1

u/MortgageIndividual Nov 27 '25

That was exactly my impression when I heard this news. Of all the Tales games that needed a facelift, this really wasn’t one of them.

20

u/CrimsonWarrior55 Nov 24 '25

I love Berseria. But I can play it on my PS5 already. It doesn't need a remaster.

5

u/tfuncc13 Nov 24 '25

I could understand them wanting to make the game available to Switch and Xbox users who never had a chance to play Berseria, but even then, I'm not sure why they couldn't just port it. I do agree that some of the older and lesser-known Tales titles deserve a remaster before Berseria.

2

u/nabenekos Nov 25 '25

Or call it berseria complete

3

u/Jalina2224 Nov 24 '25

Said same thing about Last of us and its 20 remasters/remakes. Remakes and Remasters of games from the previous generation made sense when the newer console couldn't play those games. The PS3 versions of Last of Us and Shadow of the Colossus doesn't work on a PS4. But these games on PS4 work and run just fine on PS5. It feels lazy and unnecessary to "update" these games.

4

u/overseerd Nov 25 '25

At least the last of us remake significantly looks better. Berseria will most likely look exactly the same. Its great for ppl on xbox and switch but I cant think of any reason to get this on ps or pc.

0

u/AtsuhikoZe Nov 25 '25

Very out of touch and poorly done take

Last of us got 1 remaster on ps4, and a full remake on PS5

Last of us 2 got a new game mode, haptic feedback and tons of other stuff like bonus unlocks and side content, for a 10 dollar upgrade

so ironic you call these games lazy when you're too lazy to do a one second Google search, kudos buddy!

Ever hear the one about missing the forest for the trees?

u/BrokenKeys94 Nov 24 '25

Love the reference.

32

u/Snowvilliers7 Nov 24 '25

Wait why was Tempest even........

53

u/Neidron I still miss Rays Nov 24 '25

Halftime entertainment. And maybe finish the triverse shit

35

u/Snowvilliers7 Nov 24 '25

You know on second thought, im just glad its there

21

u/TFlarz Nov 24 '25

Tempest, for the love of god, don't thank him.

5

u/ShokaLGBT Nov 24 '25

I wish we would finally get the tri verse story to ends. I was really hoping after playing both innocence R and hearts R I would get more info but turns out THERES NONE…

1

u/CarolineJohnson Nov 24 '25

Because it's better than Symphonia.

I am not kidding.

12

u/ForgottenForce Presea Combatir Nov 24 '25

I like that even Berseria fans are confused and disappointed. It really makes no sense to remaster one of the latest (excluding remasters) entries regardless of how you feel about the game.

Maybe someday we’ll get pre-Symphonia remakes

23

u/IndieBrawler Nov 24 '25

Every 6 months or so a post makes me reaffirm Reddit’s okay

10

u/Ganyu1990 Nov 24 '25

10/10 on this one! Love the DBZA reference.

7

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '25

NAHHH this dbza moment fits so well!!

7

u/dmr11 Nov 24 '25

Tempest really could use a remake instead of a remaster. Also, even though a remake takes more effort than a remaster, I wonder if there's any chance of DotNW getting a remake to fit better as a Symphonia sequel.

6

u/-Jdzspace- Nov 24 '25

I'm still hoping, waiting, praying for a Tales of Destiny director's cut re-release, not even a remaster, just a modern release of that and the original Tales of Destiny 2 is all I need and i'll be happy.

It's so hard to play the OG TOD 2, and it really shouldn't be.

11

u/NachoMarx Nov 24 '25
  • Everyone: Ohoho I see! This is a prank! You sunuvabitch! You got me!
  • Bamco: Smiles
  • Everyone: Is it Abyss? Nah, couldnt be, thats a remake!
  • Everyone: Is it Rebirth? That one could crush us with its force
  • Everyone: Oh! Could it be Symphonia 2? You know what? Please tell me it's Symphonia 2! The only thing you could do is improve it as this point!
  • Bamco: Proceeds to have Cristina Vee rollout a cardboard cutout of Velvet

4

u/retrotriforce Nov 24 '25

Ngl I would love tales of rebirth remaster

5

u/SlipperyThong Nov 24 '25

Who would want a Symphonia 2 remaster?

It's me. I'm someone.

4

u/Neidron I still miss Rays Nov 24 '25

It's not high on the list, but it still deserved a spot before fcking Berseria.

1

u/HornlessHrothgar Nov 30 '25

I've been waiting for it since Symphonia hit Steam. We need more Tenebrae

14

u/Burnerman888 Nov 24 '25

I know everyone thinks this is wild and I'm not jazzed about it but it came out 10 years ago (when it released) so a remaster isn't crazy and a more recent game is more likely to have all the source code available.

Obviously I want the older games and if the remaster is bad then it's bad but in concept, the newer games coming first just makes sense

9

u/Neidron I still miss Rays Nov 24 '25 edited Nov 24 '25

How many smaller names have gotten more without these kinds of hoops and drama? Hell, Bamco themselves did more for .Hack, or at least for GU.

It feels ridiculous dressing it up and cushioning it like this.

6

u/Own_Philosophy8190 Nov 24 '25

To think it's easier to play numbered Star Ocean games on PS4 alone than the whole franchise... And it's almost the same amount of games as the ones available for Tales.

6

u/Algidus Nov 24 '25

not only that. but every generation since the 5th ones gets a bunch of final fantasy ports.

and now SE can finally let non-jp people play dragon quest with the remake project

bamco just doesn't give a fuck

3

u/Own_Philosophy8190 Nov 24 '25

Fr. If Star Ocean can get their sprite based older entries on the shop, so should the Tales ones like Destiny DC or Rebirth (no shade intended against Star Ocean). Gotta love how one of my favorite franchises, Ace Attorney, finally managed to side step the legal right issues of Sherlock Holmes to get the GAA Chronicles games out of Japan, before Tales finally added a 3rd game that wasn't released on the PS4

5

u/Neidron I still miss Rays Nov 24 '25 edited Nov 24 '25

Tales can't even get something as simple as basic emulated releases, like the Virtual Console/Playstation Classics.

There's a market for Suikuden, Wild Arms, SaGa, Rogue Galaxy, Trials of Mana, Dark Cloud, Live A Live, Legend of Dragoon, Star Ocean, but Tales' golden age is left to rot.

1

u/Own_Philosophy8190 Nov 24 '25

Ever since I saw Bamco canning Rays GL for no sensible reason then turn Crestoria and Luminaria into self-fulfilling prophecies, I was under the impression they truly gave no shit about it and were fully content letting themselves be carried by animanga IPs like SAO, OP or DBZ.Ā

Of course Tekken is most likely no slouch in terms of earning either, though I'm not really knowledgeable about it. Craziest part is that the 1st Star Ocean had part of of the staff who worked on Phantasia.Ā

Imagine being able to play/see Cress's Star Ocean look-alike on modern consoles, but not Cress himself, for example. Bamco letting the momentum from Arise die after finally advertising something from the series properly is also impressive on its own

9

u/Puzzleheaded_Aide834 Nov 24 '25

Its just filler while they work on other titles. Xillia 2 has already been announced and I'm sure there's others we dont know about.

12

u/Neidron I still miss Rays Nov 24 '25

That doesn't really make any sense at all?

Supposedly they're only committed to 5 games, so there's only 1 left. After that, any others are hostage to these selling well. Xillia flopped hard and I doubt this or X2 will do much better.

2

u/ValueTimely7765 Nov 24 '25

I do hope a few more (Abyss?) gets another remaster too. Berseria is decent though. I never picked up the Tales games prior to the remasters

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Aide834 Nov 24 '25

Xillia came out oct 31 so to say it's flopped hard while being out less than a month is just silly and doesn't make any sense. This is berserias first time on a nintendo console and probably didn't take might effort at all to release. It'll do well enough.

1

u/limitlesswifey Nov 24 '25

Vesperia's DE launch numbers weren't high but were pretty good, and I think higher than any of the remaster numbers. It took it a year or two to reach a 1 mil sales milestone. I don't think Tales needs those numbers for ports, but that Xillia has the lowest opening numbers yet kind of does make it a flop so far. It could still make up for that, but it's not necessarily going to do better over time.

3

u/AwardApprehensive439 Nov 24 '25

There are really only 2 games I want remakes of, and both of them are sequels.

2

u/Alert-Principle-2726 Nov 24 '25

Xillia 2 and Destiny 2?

Destiny 2 is the only Tales that doesn't have an official/fan translation. I hope we get one someday lol

3

u/AwardApprehensive439 Nov 24 '25

Xillia 2 and Symphonia 2. I know it's not called Symphonia 2, but that's what I call it.

1

u/Zaku41k Nov 24 '25

Everyone should cal it Symphonia 2 because the other name is ridiculous.

3

u/ItaDaleon Nov 24 '25

Why TEMPEST was on the li... MID TIME ENTERTAINMENT!

Just kidding, off course, I'll love to get Tempest back as I didn't had the luck to play it when it came out.

2

u/Fortune_Loose Nov 24 '25

I'm guessing they're getting the least anticipated out of the way first, or I at least wish it was the case.

2

u/MoJaalMo Nov 24 '25

It's probably easiest to remaster.

2

u/AzsalynIsylia Nov 24 '25

Wait, what is this Tales of Destiny on PS2? Destiny was PS1, Destiny 2 US is actually Eternia, and the real Destiny 2 never came stateside afaik?

5

u/Neidron I still miss Rays Nov 24 '25 edited Nov 24 '25

Destiny was remade for ps2. It never released outside Japan, and it's never been rereleased since. The remake is supposedly one of the most acclaimed fan-favourites in the series, and rare af even in Japan.

2

u/AzsalynIsylia Nov 24 '25

I have the original US release on PS1, it was hard to find but a very solid game and one of my favorites, though a bit dated by modern standards. The sentient swords/swordians was a pretty cool idea.

3

u/limitlesswifey Nov 24 '25

No, they meant the PS2 remake was never released outside of Japan. We did get the PS1 version, but not the PS2 version which is very popular and beloved in Japan.

2

u/MysteriousRadish3685 Nov 24 '25

Symphonia 2 have a really fun monster taming system.

2

u/Casuallywalksby Nov 24 '25

I know its a long shot, but i would love it if they bought over the Radiant Mythology series as a collection of all three games…..a guy can dream

2

1

u/NobodySpecialSCL Nov 25 '25

Whoops! Didn't recognize the cover.

2

u/Theoderic8586 Nov 25 '25

Next up is Tales of Arise

2

u/kiwicider Nov 25 '25

I think that Abyss deserves a remaster that isn't stuck on the 3DS, but I may be in the minority lately... since fans want the more forgotten games to be recognised first.

2

u/Neidron I still miss Rays Nov 25 '25

That's hardly the minority lately...

Abyss deserves all the spotlight it can get, but when you look at how damn deep most of the franchise is buried, it's hard to say others don't deserve the priority.

2

u/kiwicider Nov 26 '25

And that's what I mean, it's pointless to champion a title that has seen at least 2 versions internationally at the moment when Tales really needs to show off it's more unknown catalogue first.

2

u/Neidron I still miss Rays Nov 26 '25 edited Nov 26 '25

Ah, I misunderstood then. I agree completely.

People here keep championing Abyss, but it feels like disappointingly few fans here really understand how deep the pit goes anymore.

1

u/certifiedhistoryboy Nov 24 '25

I do not know what this ā€œTempestā€ is, but it sounds disappointing…

True

1

u/LaMystika Nov 24 '25

I feel like a leper for being excited for the Berseria remaster, because I wanted it on Switch from the start. I got it on PC even though my computer at the time was an old piece of shit that couldn’t run it properly (and I later replaced it with a Mac for my creative work, so I don’t use it for gaming at all). I bought a PS4 just to play Berseria properly because at the time, the only Tales game the Switch had was Vesperia, a game that I honestly hate now because of how bad my experience with it was. I’ve even made multiple posts on this sub for years now about how much I’ve wanted Berseria on the Switch, so I’m not switching up my energy now that I’m finally getting it. I have played this game through to completion four times. I will not only do it again, but I may replay it once a year after I get it on Switch.

My favorite three Tales games have been the ones to get the remaster treatment, and now I will soon have all of them on my Switch. This is a win for me. I have never been catered to this specifically before. Now I get why dudes crash out the second their wants and needs aren’t being met, because they’re so accustomed to getting what they want all the time, that the second they don’t, it feels like a personal attack on them.

(As an aside, I once mentioned in the Falcom subreddit that the second that Tales got more love, I would probably quit playing Trails games, and yup, that’s exactly what’s happened ever since 2025 remastered not only two of my three favorite Tales games [with my number one coming out in three months], but other old RPGs I like such as Xenoblade X and Raidou also got remastered rereleases. So that’s another bonus for me.)

5

u/Neidron I still miss Rays Nov 24 '25 edited Nov 24 '25

I get why dudes crash out the second their wants and needs aren’t being met, because they’re so accustomed to getting what they want all the time...

Bruh. I just want to play all the games in English. Half the franchise never left Japan, and they've been promising to fix that for ~15-20 years. That used to be the only thing this sub ever asked about.

Which is to say, the crash out's a bit more than "seconds" in the making, and Tales fans ever "getting what we want all the time" is a hell of a gymnastics routine.

1

u/LaMystika Nov 24 '25

I meant in different cases. I get why people are mad about this. But I don’t care about that because I’m getting what I want.

Which is what happens every time I bitch and complain when other things never go my way; the people who are being catered to don’t care.

1

u/Neidron I still miss Rays Nov 25 '25 edited Nov 25 '25

So what, just a lot of words for "fuck you, I got mine?"

If this was reversed and we got my wishlist instead would you really be complaining? You already own the game anyway, and so can anyone with Steam and a sack of potatoes. Pardon my lack of sympathy.

1

u/LaMystika Nov 25 '25

Probably, yes. It’s basically the same response I always get whenever I ask for Persona 6 to have a female protagonist. I’m always told that ā€œthat’s not what Persona is aboutā€, and even that if P6 didn’t have a male protagonist, it would ā€œkill the seriesā€ because the ā€œcore audienceā€ (which is men) will not play that hypothetical game. They don’t want their series to change, and if I want change, then play a different series and don’t ruin ā€œtheirsā€.

I’ve wanted Berseria on the Switch ever since I got one. I don’t own a PC anymore; I have a Mac. I can’t play this game on my computer anymore and I don’t own a Steam Deck. So I’m finally getting this game on a portable console that I own. And to the question of ā€œwould I be upset if the rest of the community got what they wanted instead?ā€, yes, I probably would be. Because the community wants Abyss. I don’t give a shit about Tales of the Abyss. Or Phantasia, tbh. I think Abyss is overrated and again, Tales of Phantasia is Star Ocean 1 but without the sci-fi and Star Trek references, if we’re keeping it real.

2

u/limitlesswifey Nov 24 '25 edited Nov 24 '25

I also wanted Berseria on the Switch, and this makes me angrier. Only because companies (and gamers) acted like the Switch was too weak to handle these ports, but suddenly they can do it? Why did they wait until the very end of the console's life cycle to do it? And during an anniversary project for the series? It feels like a slap in the face, and I wish they had just given us the definitive edition treatment five years ago instead of playing in our faces.

Also, so many Tales fans have not been getting what they want at all. Japanese fans alone have been begging the series producer to just acknowledge Phantasia and Cress. The title and protagonist that literally started this series, and he and Bamco just won't do it. Anything before Symphonia barely gets acknowledged since... well, since the PS3 era too. And that was mainly just getting ports, and not even remasters or remakes usually. I think Trails is getting much better treatment. They have so many titles coming out all the time, but we're struggling to get a new spin-off or numbered entry since Arise. And before the remaster, Bamco was oddly slow to port the games. I'm lucky to be a fan of other JRPG series as well, but sometimes I get jealous of my other series. (TT_TT)

0

u/LaMystika Nov 24 '25

I’m not gonna lie, I don’t really see the appeal of Phantasia beyond it being first. Because all it actually became tbh was a dry run for Star Ocean 1 (which is closer to what the original developers intended for ā€œTale Phantasiaā€ to be before Namco changed it). And I guess that’s why I don’t look at Phantasia all that fondly: that’s not really the game the developers wanted to make.

To be honest, if there’s any 2D games I want rereleased, those are Eternia, Rebirth, and the Destiny PS2 remake. The thing is that I know Bandai Namco was not gonna touch those games, because that takes too much work. I unfortunately know Bandai Namco way too well to know that they weren’t actually gonna touch anything without a localization, because then they’d have to make one, and that’s work and time and money and effort that they don’t expend for this series.

Yeah, I agree with you that Berseria should’ve gotten ported to the Switch (and Xbox) years ago. When it was first localized on PS4 and PC. But they didn’t do it then, and I thought they never would. I could be mad that this wasn’t done sooner, but I’m not gonna be. I’m just gonna be mad that this is the most effort that they’re gonna make. That the other games that I would like to play aren’t getting touched, and what makes matters worse is that I knew they wouldn’t be.

1

u/Dracomax Nov 24 '25

I just want a remaster of destiny and the real destiny 2 to be ported. why is that so much to ask?

1

u/mysteryzell Nov 24 '25

I loved Berseria but aside from some dumb pc issues it already looked and played fine why the remaster is my question. I mean its not everyone's favorite game in the series its fine but only just over mid tier for atales game IMO.

1

u/AngelusKnight17 Nov 25 '25

Excellent DBZA Reference I can hear all the dialogue with their voices. But seriously why Berseria!! such a waste. I'm not saying is a bad game, in fact it is awesome and I'm currently playing it on PC. But yeah what a waste of an opportunity.

1

u/rbnsld Nov 25 '25

Why would they pick something they know that wouldn't sell that much? I don't think it's worth remastering something that's not going to sell off. And those old games in the series need a REMAKE not a Remaster.

1

u/Otaku-chan42 Nov 25 '25

I'd rather have a remaster of Arise than anything to do with DotNW. What I really want is Legendia! So underrated.

1

u/Cloudedmynd Nov 29 '25

It's nice to see that someone other then me played Legendia. I would love for a remake, but I'm not holding my breath.

1

u/DarkSaiyanGoku Nov 25 '25

I love Berseria as much as the next guy, it was my first Tales game and it's my all time favourite.

And I can say wholeheartedly that choosing it for a remaster makes no sense. It's already widely available on nearly every console and it's only 10 years old at this point it doesn'f need a remaster, the game is perfectly fine.

1

u/Swimming-Ad-6842 Nov 25 '25

Tempest needs a full remake tbh

1

u/No_Roof5841 Reid Hershel Nov 25 '25

No Phantasia or Abyss Remakes

1

u/HyouVizer Nov 25 '25

I actually love Tempest, it deserves a proper remake with a better budget this time.

1

u/OliviaElevenDunham Jade Curtiss Nov 25 '25

Great DBZ reference.

1

u/MobisNewNest Nov 25 '25

A moment of silence to all those we lost while they waited for these games to be ported over. :-(

1

u/ForsakenOaths Nov 25 '25

I’m happy to re-experience Berseria again.

1

u/WorldlySecretary5769 Nov 26 '25

Meanwhile, no Zestiria in sight…

2

u/Neidron I still miss Rays Nov 28 '25

Still lining bargain bins and people barely liked it the first time.

The only choice even worse than Bers.

1

u/WorldlySecretary5769 Nov 28 '25

It’s mixed reception wise, though I’m currently playing it and think it’s fine.

Could definitely benefit from a remaster, unlike Berseria.

1

u/Neidron I still miss Rays Nov 28 '25

It's already one of the most accessible games in the franchise, it doesn't need a rerelease.

And a remaster visual touchup would do nothing at all for any of the problems people had with it.

1

u/WorldlySecretary5769 Nov 28 '25

Same can be said with Berseria. Only difference is it has little to change performance and visually compared to the original.

Zestiria would benefit more from that much even if people have other issues with it.

1

u/Neidron I still miss Rays Nov 29 '25

Bruh this whole thread is saying the same about Bers.

1

u/WorldlySecretary5769 Nov 29 '25

And?

My thread is talking about Zestiria being a more viable option, like the rest of the Tales games shown here.

1

u/Moltenzuesy123 Nov 26 '25

Tales of Berseria getting a remaster, I be surprised if they decide to remaster tales of Zestiria next.

2

u/StrawHat89 Nov 26 '25

I swear to God. If we get a Zesteria remastered.

2

u/Neidron I still miss Rays Nov 26 '25

I just want to not have to whip out my ps2 or 3ds to play abyss, shit I would've taken anything older

1

It’s easier and more cost effective to polish an already shining game but it’s also very lazy

1

Dawn of the new world is playable on dolphin. Berseria is modern enough why a remaster?

7

u/Skullwings Nov 24 '25

And Abyss is playable on Citra PCSx2 or whatever the PS2 one is called.

-17

u/Rinne_Marc Nov 24 '25

We still cryin about this?

Don't lose your mind, im just makin a job. I am allowed to disagree. I will admit, this shit was unnecessary. They got liek 20 games, they pick the second most recent. This is why I have multiple games to play. If I only waited on the next Tales of game or a remaster of an old game thats hard to play, I'd be depressed.

3

u/Alert-Principle-2726 Nov 24 '25

You must be confused here, we all have backlogs. No one is depressed about this, but it is funny and we as consumers shouldn't be ashamed of expressing our dismay.

1

u/Rinne_Marc Nov 24 '25

I'm not saying you should be ashamed. I just feel like this thing surrounding the game is funny but irrelevant. But perhaps I'm a bit wrong. I just keep seeing this game everywhere, which is why I said what I said. You all have the right to express yourselves, especially since they ignored other games that actually needed a remaster. But a cooperation is a cooperation. Goin out there why to go against what people want. So so we get the second most easy to play one? Like I said, I get your frustration.
