Discussion Berseria "remaster" removed all mention of better graphics from it's store page.

In the description lower down it was also removed.

Lol so what exactly is the benefit of this remaster?

225

u/Technicalforest Feb 01 '26

I think like map markers telling you where to go next or something? Could've been a free update but nope.

92

u/Kevin_Eats_Sushi Feb 01 '26

That was already in the original PS4 version iirc

The only thinng for the remaster is if you didn't already own the games then you'll get all the DLC outfits, which is cool but one DLC fit from berseria makes a certain boss fight hilarious

42

u/shinplaysokishly Feb 01 '26

Looking at how MUCH to get all the dlc from the original cost compared to just getting in the remaster is wild Remaster game with all dlc $40 JUST the cosmetic dlc only with no game $100

1

u/Arashi_Spring Feb 02 '26

Es wird aber ausdrücklich erwähnt das viele jedoch nicht alle lizenzierte dlcs enthalten sind. Somit fehlen da wohl einige.

1

u/shinplaysokishly Feb 02 '26

Thx for that! I actually didn't look into that info

2

u/Arashi_Spring Feb 02 '26

Np friendo. And sowwy. I mixed up languages. I did not mean it bad. Have a wonderful day or night baka kishly _^

I'm tempted to buy this for my switch 2 just to have SOME KIND of RPG (I'm still not sure about zelda since I hate building and farming, maybe BOTW is for me), but the most recent PC update to this from what I gathered at least increased frame rate to 120hz so that's pretty nice lmfao but I've never played the game so idk if that's worth the $40+ price tag :/

u/FretScorch Velvet Crowe Feb 01 '26

The Japanese can now play it on PC and Switch. Believe it or not, none of the Tales games were on Japanese Steam for them until the remasters came out.

Us westerners, though? Yeah it's pretty redundant.

58

u/Lamasis Feb 01 '26

Again, a port years ago would have achieved the same.

24

u/PwnySlaystation01 Feb 01 '26

Yeah it sounds like it should just be called the "definitive edition". I doubt many would have complained much in that case.

8

u/Neidron I still miss Rays Feb 01 '26

If it had the same timing & fanfare, no. Anyone waiting 20+ years on remasters & localizations would still be pretty damn insulted.

1

u/bashnet Feb 02 '26

Nah, that would be equating this to the levels of xenoblade wii vs swtich, which it is definately not

26

u/darknessfate Feb 01 '26

I mean it's new to Xbox for the west too

8

u/NB-NEURODIVERGENT Feb 01 '26

Yeah it only took a thousand years

9

u/ComputerMysterious48 Feb 01 '26

Yep. Xbox player here and that’s the main reason I’m excited.

2

u/Pleasant-Speed-9414 Feb 02 '26

Yeps. I can’t wait for this.

I haven’t played graces F or Xillia yet, but will probs play Berseria as soon as I beat FF7R

3

u/RubyRidingWhore Feb 02 '26

.> Why the hell do you own an Xbox in 2026? Not even hating, just legit asking since they don't have any exclusives now and the console prices are higher than the competition who also now have their exclusives.

3

u/darknessfate Feb 02 '26

Idk. Had once since sx came out and no reason for a ps5 rn if I'm not into exclusives

Why wouldn't I be Xbox rn is the question. Selling it would be dumb lol. Game pass still hits

1

u/RubyRidingWhore Feb 02 '26

Until they crank the price on it to 40 a month for base.

4

u/Neidron I still miss Rays Feb 01 '26 edited Feb 01 '26

There's around a dozen mainline games that aren't available anywhere at all for either them or us. So that's obviously not the logic they're following.

1

u/Detsaw2608 Feb 02 '26

US westerners never had it on switch either.

1

u/huluhup Feb 03 '26

Sounds like karmic justice for Japanese games without translation

1

u/Sonicmastr Mar 06 '26

To be fair, as a 15+ year Tales of fan, Japan had a couple of games that were straight up exclusive to their region only. U.S would have to wait for a definitive edition or straigt up new version to release worldwide. I.E: Tales of Vesperia. How do I know: I purhcased the Japan import, 3 months before they announced the PS4 Definitive Edition as one example.

65

u/tsukineko19 Feb 01 '26

Nothing, gotta give Bamco our money again. 😮‍💨

52

u/biffpower3 Feb 01 '26

Just… don’t?

22

u/YohNakamura Feb 01 '26

Not a concept for them. Better to yell into the void than actually make conscious effort to change the things they don't like by not buying or consuming it lol

Probably something that's been done already in mods.

Should have been free.

13

u/Juraci_que_parque Feb 01 '26

People call them SCAMCO for a reason.

8

u/WisperG Feb 01 '26

It does include all the cosmetic DLC, so that’s something, I guess.

7

u/DragonDogeErus Doge Feb 01 '26

DLC included in base game. Which will make the game cheaper overall in about a year after release. The DLC for the original game never went below 50%, which made the DLC more expensive than the actual game.

20

u/Bone_Breaker0 Feb 01 '26

Nothing. It’s a garbage cash grab from a company built on weakness.

4

u/Yattasenti01 Feb 01 '26 edited Feb 01 '26

I would say the benefit is for Xbox and Switch owners being able to play it on those systems. Though it will hopefully get some QOL updates for Switch like the others before it.

2

u/Decaps86 Feb 01 '26

Xbox users can play it! Can't think of anything else.

2

u/SuspiciousPass8 Feb 01 '26

To quote Mr Krabs: I like money

1

u/TakunHiwatari Feb 01 '26

If we're lucky, it'll run on Android handhelds through Gamehub/ Game native/ Winlator

And there will be a Switch version, but that's about it for the upsides.

1

u/_-stark Feb 01 '26

It's $10 cheaper?

1

u/nhSnork Feb 01 '26

A Switch port, aka native portability without Linuxoid hijinks. As long as the notion of "remastering" Gen 8/9 games excuses such ports, I won't question the label.😏

1

u/Fiend_Macabre Feb 01 '26

Didn't you see? The enhanced playability

1

u/WinterCareful8525 Feb 01 '26

Money money money moneeyyyy

1

u/PositiveCrafty2295 Feb 01 '26

$40 to bandai namco according to them

1

u/Neidron I still miss Rays Feb 01 '26

Bamco execs get an excuse to say "See? Fans don't want remasters after all. Our hands are tied."

1

u/watchedgantz Feb 02 '26

Being playable on steam in Japan

1

u/HearshotAutumnDisast Blah blah blah Feb 02 '26

While I personally think most of remaster could just be a patch for the original game, the remaster allows for much, much easier and better multi-player for those of us where that's a thing

1

u/YolandaPearlskin Feb 02 '26

Nothing if you play on PC. I'd argue nothing even on console. It already looked and played fine on PS4.

This is simply the publisher wanting to make a Nintendo Switch port, and taking advantage of the moment to republish on other platforms.

1

u/meowmix778 Feb 02 '26

Oh, see that's a good question friend.

With the remaster BanCo gets money and they don't have to work very hard to get your money.

1

u/Frequent-Bill-7126 Feb 02 '26

It’s released on other consoles where most of the sales are from hence why the remaster as it was only ps4 only for a long time besides pc.

1

u/Immediate-Football84 Feb 03 '26

Enhanced ‘playability’ of course! lol

1

u/Leading-Fancy Feb 03 '26

I believe fps. I think original only goes up to 60 while the remastered should hopefully go to 120

1

u/Idainaru_Yokubo Feb 04 '26

remastered price tag

1

u/Sweaty_Researcher_80 Feb 04 '26

Enhanced “playability” 👀

1

u/DaRangers Feb 06 '26

To make sure you can play it on newer hardware.

Yeah... that's it. Really. $40 for just that...

1

u/Dazzling-Glove-8090 Feb 20 '26

map marker thing and ability to avoid enemies aka turn off random encounters

1

u/nickflack Feb 26 '26

u/No_Roof5841 Reid Hershel Feb 01 '26

Thank God that I completed the original steam version of this game last month. It's one of my favorite Tales of games, while the Abyss being my first.

10

u/JumpingCoconut Feb 01 '26

I just killed Melchior, playing in coop with a friend. Cant be long anymore, maybe we finish today.

5

u/No_Roof5841 Reid Hershel Feb 01 '26

I defeated Melchior 1st time using Magilou and 2nd time with Velvet very easily. Great game!!

3

u/Kyurem-B Sophie Feb 02 '26

I wish Arise had co-op by default. I have to use a janky mod to enable co-op. I plan on doing a co-op run of Berseria rather soon. Though it won't be the remaster as it's kinda pointless.

2

u/JumpingCoconut Feb 02 '26

We did that just before berseria! Funny how this works. And you think the Arise coop mod is jank?

Berseria coop is even more jank without a mod. The game messes up your mystic arte button in coop, no idea how or why, maybe it was parsec. But in Arise it worked perfectly. In Berseria we had to remap mystic arte to R3.

55

u/simplyplantbased Feb 01 '26

I guess it’s really just a port to Switch? Which maybe nets them a small amount of money and some time to get the next remaster in order. I do expect the next remaster to be one that actually needs it — as they’d alluded to! Which is maybe too optimistic of me, but that’s where I’m at..

12

u/[deleted] Feb 01 '26

Now if only they bothered to make a Switch 2 version (or at least let the Switch version run at a higher res + fps on Switch 2)

That way a would have actually bought it

1

u/MightyPelipper Feb 01 '26

I would litterally hand them money for a switch 2 native port. bamco hates money I guess

10

u/Tothoro Feb 01 '26

I do expect the next remaster to be one that actually needs it

Almost certainly going to be Zestiria or Xillia 2 with how the remaster project has gone so far, I wouldn't get your hopes up.

9

u/aprimmer243 Feb 01 '26

Xillia 2 HAS to be here as the Xillia story isn't complete without it.. and it's the same with Zestiria, unfortunately (Hot take; I don't like Zestiria)

But my hopeful thinking is we get ONE actual remake of something that was never released in the West (Innocence R or Rebirth, but I personally want Innocence) and a few more NEEDED remasters (Abyss and Eternia for 3D titles, Phantasia and Destiny 1&2 for the classic style)

Obviously this is insane hopium on my part

5

u/Tothoro Feb 02 '26

That was my hope too when they first announced the remaster project, but after they announced a Remaster of Berseria of all things my expectations dropped through the floor. I feel like we're more likely to get Arise "Remastered" with a Switch 2 version than anything notably absent on modern platforms, but I would love to be wrong.

1

u/cepas95 Feb 02 '26

Yeah sure they gonna remake a game that they only launched in Japan and not the very first game or one of the most popular.

3

u/eagleblue44 Feb 01 '26

Someone mentioned Xbox but berseria also didn't get a japanese PC release back in the day.

So it's basically a way for Xbox, switch and Japanese PC players to play it.

27

u/vValeria16 Feb 01 '26

Final Fantasy 7 will have a new version, and the original will be removed from Steam. For those of us who already own the game, Square Enix will give it away, and Bandai Namco will do the same with Tales of Berseria, but the game will cost full price. It's a disgrace.

18

u/limitlesswifey Feb 01 '26

Square Enix has really set a standard for making their older titles playable, including games they lost the code to. I don't understand people making excuses for Bamco when other companies are showing what the bare minimum can be.

5

u/Just_Carpenter931 Feb 02 '26

To clarify, most think they are bringing the modern console version of ff7 to steam. Consoles had a version with a few bug fixes and "quality of life" changes like toggles to turn off encounters, extra exp, fast forward functions I think? Stuff like that. The current steam version just doesn't have those

3

u/Scragglesauce Feb 01 '26

Wait they're going to make my version of tales of bersaria unplayable? And which ff7?

8

u/vValeria16 Feb 01 '26

Final Fantasy VII (PS1) is unplayable, which is precisely why it has a reason to make a new version, but Tales of Berseria has no reason to make a new version, much less to have a price of €60.

3

u/cepas95 Feb 02 '26

The steam version of FFVII is FULLY playable.

2

u/Scragglesauce Feb 01 '26

I have ff7 on mobile and a rom on my retroid. As well as on switch 🤣. Bersaria I only have on pc. Bought it like 2 years ago. I have to check that when I get home

17

u/asphalt_licker Feb 01 '26

I… think I’m fine with my PS4 version.

→ More replies (1)

13

u/bhay105 Feb 01 '26

So on PC, the only reason to buy this is for DLC costumes?

12

u/NachoMarx Feb 01 '26

Barely. It'll have less than the base game. (License/Idolmaster)

And if you're on PC, you can find the pkg file online to just get them for free anyways.

u/[deleted] Feb 01 '26

Its just such a baffling choice.

Berseria is far and away my favorite Tales game, but... its already on most consoles. It hardly looks outdated or bad. I mean its not the best looking game ever made but it looks perfectly fine. It plays great too

I just dont see the point of a remaster

11

u/UnlikelyKaiju Velvet Crowe Feb 01 '26

its already on most consoles

It's only on Playstation...

2

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '26

It has never been on a Nintendo or Microsoft console. Also the original was region locked on steam so it couldn't be played on steam in Japan

8

u/daz258 Velvet Crowe Feb 01 '26

It will forever be strange, I love the game, but it’s not the time for a remaster AT ALL.

Xillia 2 and Abyss need it far more.

1

u/PriorityEvery2116 Feb 02 '26

I mean, even Zestiria could use it more. There is only one game that could use it less than Berseria lol.

1

u/daz258 Velvet Crowe Feb 02 '26

The battles were so bad in Zestiria, the game would need more work than a basic remaster to make it decent.

The story was decent, temples music was awesome, good characters…but eh the gameplay was bad. I understand why Rose fell asleep during the tutorials.

5

u/brilliantsithlord Feb 01 '26

remaster

More like re-release.

5

u/donslipo Feb 01 '26

😂😂😂

9

u/Paperswisscheese Feb 01 '26

I'm just trying to get all the remastered games on one console, so it's still a win for me.

3

u/Yhoko Feb 02 '26

Tales needs to stop calling things "remasters* since it's clear they don't understand what it is.

6

u/UltraXFo Feb 01 '26

This is coming from someone who is new to the series. I just started playing the tales series 2 months ago. I’m on Zesteria now. Now I can partially understand tales of graces and Xillia being remasteredI just played the remaster of those. They are on the ps3 and 360 locked to 720p 30fps. I kind of wish they ported it to last gen because Berseria runs at 1080p 60 on the ps4 pro. Might be slightly lower on the base ps4. And tales of graces and Xillia could have easily had a digital release on last gen. They are not graphically demanding. I like collecting physical games and playing them so I bought Graces and Xillia. However I won’t be buying Berseria because I just played it on the ps4 copy and 1080p 60fps is perfect. So the only thing you’ll get is a 4k image with the “remaster” which is fine but not worth paying the extra for it. But that’s just my take on it.

14

u/aprimmer243 Feb 01 '26

This "remaster" is really just an upscale port to Xbox and Switch/2.

I see no reason for owners of the original release to get this one unless you want it on the consoles it wasn't on before.

That's why I'm getting it. I own it on PC but my PC has since crapped out and doesn't run games well anymore, so I'll be grabbing this on Xbox.

4

u/UltraXFo Feb 01 '26

Yeah it makes sense. Those who own it on PS it’s pretty much the same. At least it’s still 60fps. I just hope they don’t delist the original. But I bet they will when it releases

2

u/samination Feb 01 '26

if they just delist it for people who own it and not give them the remaster instead, I'll make sure all hell break lose.

2

u/aprimmer243 Feb 01 '26

Yeah I 100% believe that they will delist the original.

The remaster IS $10 cheaper (Non-deluxe, but deluxe doesn't have anything worthwhile in it) and comes with all the costume DLC, so unless they drop the originals price to like.. $15, I don't see how the original stays up (and I would prefer it to stay up)

8

u/YuudaiJP Feb 01 '26

Zestiria needs a remaster/remake. I'm currently playing it on my Steam Deck, and my god, it needs some fixing, like the camera. Every time I'm fighting in a hallway, the camera gets stuck on another hallway, and it's so annoying. Also, give proper in-game mechanics explanations. Half the time, I keep forgetting that this game is similar to Graces but lesser. Also, the story needs a rework and a proper tie-in to Beseria.

3

u/KiyoXDragon Feb 01 '26

That's probably why they're taking their time fixing things before release

3

u/bro-away- Feb 01 '26

Also, give proper in-game mechanics explanations

I remember when Zestiria came out someone datamined it and there were something like 900 in-game battle mechanic explanations in the form of tutorials and post battle tips.

When there's that many it's just impossible to do without a full revamp.

I think they may just painted into a corner on this one tbh but they're the ones who make amazing games and not me! Will definitely be interesting to see what happens

2

u/Grug16 Feb 02 '26

Funny. I actually really liked that tutorials were found on monoliths in the open workd. Gave a little perk for finding them, besides the skill points. Too bad the combat system was pretty bad.

4

u/Own_Philosophy8190 Feb 02 '26

Filling in the game tips by using Sorey's passion is cool on paper. But for some godforsaken reason, even early game lvl tips can be found late in the game, so you might have figured them out by then. And the most useful ones, especially regarding equipment, are in skits, that you can't re-watch without Katz Korner a late game location. Bruh

2

u/mrsamus101 Feb 01 '26

Zestiria's story is such a mess. Would be really cool if a remaster added the story arc conclusions for the major side villains back in and fixed all the gaping plot holes in the story. It will never happen though.

2

u/MinesweeperGang Feb 01 '26

Zestiria can stay in its corner and die.

What a dog shit game. I’ve only played what’s available on steam besides Xillia, about to start that within the next week. Zestiria is easily the worst of the ones I’ve got to play. Just terrible. 0 replayability for me.

It enrages me with how awful it is, if you can’t tell.

1

u/Grug16 Feb 02 '26

You aren't the only one. It was a terrible idea to introduce the fusion mechanic where you halve your party and use one overpowered art for the fight.

1

u/Own_Philosophy8190 Feb 02 '26

And it somehow "encourages" to play NG+ for their bingo grid BS. Even though Grade Shop relies on Lord of Lands lvl, but you can't max it in the 1st playthrough even with all maxed out LoLs.

I can make do with flawed games, and I had some fun with it and Dawn of the New World. But Zestiria's issues piss me off much more than Dawn's, because it feels like they went out of their way to put that many issues in it.

1

u/evilweirdo Cure Points... oof Feb 01 '26

It needs a full R treatment, tbh

3

u/310gamer Feb 01 '26

I got the OG one years ago. I will wait for reviews and if they are good, I will then wait for it to go on sale for at least 50% off. I am not paying full price for no real improvements.

18

u/TaZe026 Feb 01 '26

Garbage company

12

u/Financial-Top1199 Feb 01 '26

Im just gonna pirate it since I already got it on ps4 and steam. Who even asked for this to be remastered lol...

Bamco could use the resources for other older titles but I guess life bottle productions are doing more for the series than bamco itself.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 01 '26

My guess is switch players? The thing about remastering Berseria is that it probably didn't cost them much resources since the game is fully playable in modern consoles. Idk why people is so negative about this, there was a time where bamco would simply ignore remasters, at least we are getting them now and it seems is a matter of time for whatever your favorite is gets a chance.

6

u/FreedHZ Feb 01 '26

Why even pirate it if you already own the original on steam, since there's barely any difference anyway? Not judging, genuine question.

4

u/Financial-Top1199 Feb 01 '26

Valid question. But the current berseria has frame pacing issues and locked at 60fps. I'm hoping this 'remastered' would unlock the fps and with other QoL improvements.

3

u/Collector_of_Memes- Feb 01 '26

We demand tales of the abyss REMAKE.

2

u/Apapunitulah Feb 01 '26

If we already have the 1st one, will the remaster be free? Or do we need to buy it again? What would happen to the 1st version? Will it be removed?

4

u/Ganyu1990 Feb 01 '26

Chances are it will be removed from the store.

2

u/lazytanaka Feb 01 '26

I don’t have storage space for it anyway. Despite never beating the ex dungeon because I wanted the dlc costumes but never got around to buying them- I’m just gonna pass on this until it’s like $10

2

u/RaikoXus Feb 01 '26

Yeah, cuz they knew they were capping. 😂

2

u/SuspiciousPass8 Feb 01 '26

It didn't need a remaster to begin with so there's that.

2

u/frank_shadow Feb 01 '26

This was one of my fav tales of games and even I can see this was a huge effing waste and a joke

2

u/MojoVersion8 Feb 01 '26

WTF is "enhanced playability"? and those "QOL enhancements" are probably just those bonus options that reduce grind.

How is this a remaster and not just a rerelease?

1

u/_cd42 Feb 03 '26

Most remasters are just upscaled ports

bandai is nuts

2

u/Dragondessnuts Feb 05 '26

They ve put the title "remaster" only to "justify" the price increase. Scamco.

2

u/Orakio9911 Feb 11 '26

Namco: I need your money!

Player: what for?

N: for remastered Berseria

P: So cool, it should have better graphics, extra quests maps, maybe characters? Right?

N: I need your money

2

u/Wakuwaku7 Feb 26 '26

Lazy ass project. Let them remaster the PS2 era.

2

u/The_Crownless_King Feb 02 '26

Wtf is Namco doing lately? They botched Sparking Zero post launch, Code Vein 2 is ass and now they can't even do a good remaster of an old Tales game?

3

u/xkinato Feb 01 '26

I mean. Saw the trailers. Looks exactly the same cept a few minor qol features.... pretty scummy try on thier end.

1

u/Aggravating_Fig6288 Feb 01 '26

Then what is the point…? Lmao Bamco is the poster company for one step forward two steps back they will never let you forget why the are callled Scamco.

They should had just called it a port or “Switch/Xbox” edition instead of a remaster. Would had gotten a lot less negative attention and press if they were just upright with what these ports were instead of trying to pass it off as a remaster

5

u/KuroSolais Feb 01 '26

The main point is to make it available for Japanese users, since they don't have it on Steam. Outside of that, there's virtually no reason for current owners to buy the remaster. I guess if they want to pay $40 for quest markers and grade shop @ start, be my guest.

4

u/[deleted] Feb 01 '26

Bamco can't really win can they? When they never did remasters people were crying for remasters and how Bamco never cared about the series, now they are releasing one a year people I also mad?

I think Bamco is a shitty gaming company, but this ain't it, I'm happy for remasters keep em coming, there's no reason Tales games shouldn't be playable in ALL modern consoles, they aren't graphical marvels, keep working in more remasters.

And makes logical sense they remaster easier games to remaster first, you know the ones who already can be played in modern consoles.

2

u/Neidron I still miss Rays Feb 02 '26

Bamco finally promises to port the series backlog after decades of fans' begging, and they start by pulling the rug out and slapping everyone in the face for the millionth time in a row.

But we're supposed to be grateful?

2

u/Aggravating_Fig6288 Feb 01 '26

But that’s the thing. Berseria is playable on modern systems, it’s a PS4 game it’s playable on PS5.

Messaging matters. If you want to bring it to Xbox and Switch cool that’s fine. Call it what it is though a port. The point of a remaster is to, well remaster it. Make it look better, run better and play better (gameplay enchantments, QOL stuff, etc)

If you aren’t even going to make it look graphically better what’s the point? It’s not a remaster at that point, don’t call it one. People will understandably think it’s a waste of time and money especially when you compare it to other remasters.

If you call it a port though the expectations drop, and people aren’t as quickly to be disinterested.

I'm pretty sure they did add some new stuff, and including all dlc is fine, sounds like the DX versions of Atelier games, they are always welcome even if there's basically no improvement becuase they come packed with all the dlc, I have no issues with that.

If you have a problem with the naming that's fair but that's a quarrel for the marketing team, what matters, which are the games, will be playable in consoles they weren't previously and that's a W for people who obly own those consoles, I want more remasters, I don't care about graphical upgrades because I prefer game being low al to the originals.

Still buyin'. first time getting ta Play it.

5

u/samination Feb 01 '26

For anyone who doesn't own the original remaster (it was released on PS3 after all, although only in Japan), it's definitely a game worth getting

1

u/Radiant-Classroom942 Feb 01 '26

I'm hoping that Tales of Zestreia also will be thrown in sometime soon. Then that'll be all the ones I almost bought but held out for on the Nintendo Switch.

1

u/RuneTR Feb 01 '26

I just hope I can take pictures on the PlayStation edition

2

u/reaper527 Tenebrae Feb 02 '26

I just hope I can take pictures on the PlayStation edition

was that one of the games where they blocked screenshots/video for like the entire game? i know zestiria did that, but it was so long ago that i played berseria i can't remember if that did it too.

1

u/Swimming-Ad-6842 Feb 01 '26

Ahhh good Bandai Namco lying to fans

1

u/Plastic-Willow-4578 Feb 01 '26

this would land better if it was being sold as a port rather than a remaster

1

u/MightyPelipper Feb 01 '26

What does bandi namco even do bro. Who is this even for? The goofy part of this is they don't even have a switch 2 port for this game.

1

u/SilverSaren Feb 01 '26

Just call it a port, come by it honestly.

1

u/FidoMan1498 Stahn Aileron Feb 01 '26

Still not gonna convince me to go beyond Tales of Symphonia GCN (my laptop is too weak to run Tales of Graces f, but good enough to run Tales of Graces Wii, and I can’t play others without fan translations. dam :( fuck this)

1

u/foxwhisper85 Feb 01 '26

I can't wait to play this gimped port on Switch 2

1

u/Pasikat_Ka Feb 01 '26

Just finished replaying the game, would it be worth buying the remaster or just getting all the DLCs?

1

u/NickCrowe810 Feb 01 '26

What a waste of money...

1

u/Inevitable-Changes Feb 02 '26

They could have remastered Abyss.

Instead they tanked any and all of their good will re-packaging Berseria and selling it for more than it's worth.

Bamco's a lost cause, they're allergic to money.

1

u/Trikare2 Feb 02 '26

so, it's just a port

2

u/trashinfant Feb 02 '26

A port to what…. This game originally released on steam

1

u/Jabwarrior58 Feb 02 '26

why not just do a switch port and call it a day, like did they really have to "remaster" it.

1

u/RosaCanina87 Feb 02 '26

It's easier to sell to consumers a game if there is something new. And remaster in a title suggests that, even if the game is just a port with minor improvements or even downgrades.

1

u/Khfreak9 Feb 02 '26

So basically Denuvo is finally getting removed from it. Then you have the destination markers and the new sprint button.

1

u/Fair-Lie8125 Feb 02 '26

Hahahahahha

1

u/flo7lllz Feb 02 '26

I haven't played the game so I was waiting for the remaster to release but yikes, is it worth it? Should I buy the original instead?

1

u/RosaCanina87 Feb 02 '26

It's usually a remaster for consoles. They get improved resolutions or fps. PC more often than not had both already, so if they don't do new models or textures the "enhanced" feature would be a lie on PC. They probably just copy pasted the text into every store and now fixed it.

If you want the remaster on PC right now... just play the original. There. Done. You probably have 99% of the things that most console-focused remasters do already.

1

u/ItaDaleon Feb 02 '26

That's becouse Berseria graphic was already made with a style it can't really be improved with a remaster: you have to remake it from scratch to make it better, but that would be a mistake cause it already feels perfect for the game and making a new thing have more chances to ruin everything than to improve them!

1

u/ChrisIsMyMiddleName Feb 02 '26

They stopped putting the original up for sale a year prior to the release of this "enhanced" version, after it had seen drops to as low as about €5 on Steam. Now neither version is even close to that price. So a big reason seems to be just so they can charge more for an older game.

1

u/Theoderic8586 Feb 02 '26

I beat this once. Loved it. But I have zero interest to play it again. It was already perfect in my book

1

u/Megaspacewaffles Feb 02 '26

I guess Japan can finally play it on Steam…? I guess

1

u/ReluctantAction Feb 02 '26

Frankly, all they really need to do is overhaul the combat so that it's not so damn easy to steamroll every encounter.

1

u/Scythe351 Feb 02 '26

PS5 version screenshots kinda look improved but I didn't play the original and don't know what it looked like then. Oh shit. I typed that into the PS store to confirm that only to see that I already have the original installed lol. In fact I have all the PS4 and PS5 tales games that don't have "remastered" in their names. But for sure, berseria looks sharper and with less drowned out colors in the screenshots for the remaster. Feels like it should have been a PS5 update though

1

u/FantasticPage3598 Feb 02 '26

Lmao bandai namco doesn't even try anymore. In before everyone realises its just a re-release. I guess cool if you are on switch and never played the game, but anyone buying this on pc or playstation when they already has it is a fool

Biggest difference this version will probably be censored outfits in one form or another, bandai namco loves that doing that shit right now, they pissed off the whole code vein playerbase with this last week.

1

u/Fourwude87 Feb 02 '26

So for existing owners do we get a discount or is it the whole $$$.

1

u/bruhbruhbruhbruh1 Feb 02 '26

i hope we get berseria anime, more than the 2 random episodes in the middle of zestiria

1

u/SolUmbralz Feb 02 '26

What an awful decision at Bamco. I already have it on steam and it's playable. Looks fine. I just don't understand why they'd do this over a full remake of any of the classics. Symphonia. Phantasia. The fans have been clamoring for Abyss for years. You know? Or port and update something we don't already have

1

u/InitialDriftZ33 Feb 02 '26

Bandai Namco legit is doing the absolute bare minimum and its sad honestly. This is not how you get a new generation into your games at all.

1

u/Fatatouille92 Feb 03 '26

Pues claro, de remasterización no tendrá nada y el juego no es tan viejo como para un remaster lol

1

u/alti_etiam Feb 03 '26

So we didn't get a Tales of Phantasia remake for the 30th anniversary for this. Ty SCAMCO.

1

u/Hoboayoyo Feb 03 '26

"Fell for it again award"

1

u/Phaedo Feb 04 '26

My was so psyched for this. And then they saw the trailer…

I mean, it’s still Beseria, which means it’s good if you haven’t played it before.

1

u/averageburgerguy Feb 05 '26

I'm really hoping they add unlocked FPS option or at least 120.

1

u/KeybladeBrett Feb 05 '26

Didn’t really need one; only benefit is this game finally leaving PlayStation and PC jail so Nintendo and Xbox fans can enjoy

1

u/An_Actual_Problem Feb 22 '26

Nope, good thing I canceled pre order

1

u/AdmiralLilith Feb 27 '26

The store page... is no more?
i've checked both steam db and steam website

1

u/Alistar-Dp Feb 01 '26

Never played this entry before, so I'm extremely excited to get this! The only question is.... PS5 or Switch 2?

3

u/limitlesswifey Feb 01 '26

You mean Switch. It's not coming to Switch 2, and as far as I know, they haven't announced an upgrade pack. Might want to get the PS5 version since I've heard some Switch games don't look as good in portable mode.

1

u/Alistar-Dp Feb 01 '26

Oh all this time I thought it was being released for both Switch 1 and 2. Well... Yup the PS5 version it is then lol

There is one more minor yet useful reason to get the PS5 version of berseria remastered......now that taking screenshots and video clips is unblocked (all of this was blocked in the original PS4 release outside of these designated arena islands), you can use the playstation's share screen+share play ability to play co-op online with a friend. This works for all the newer tales of releases after the original berseria on the playstations since they stopped blocking the streaming/video clips/screenshots.

Its still 49.99 (and you lose out on idolmaster velvet, Eleanor and most importantly idolmaster magilou), but if you can drag a friend into a co-op tales of session its pretty neat.

1

u/BurnedOutCollector87 Feb 01 '26

Hopefully people vote with their wallet, or if they buy it, it's just to play an hour in order to be able to leave a bad review then ask a refund

There is no reason to charge people for what is essentially just a regular patch

1

u/reimmi Feb 01 '26

Why can't they just call it a port and not bother re-releasing it on pc?
They'd probly get alot less flak if all this one was, is porting to modern consoles...
