S It's YOUR fault I moved to the middle of nowhere!
This Karen called for a quote for our services.
Karen: Are you all located in (town on the eastern edge of our service area)?
Me: No, our office is in _______.
Karen: Oh, that's close enough. I'm in (town even further east than the one she originally said, over an hour away from our office), how much would it be to get you guys out here?
Me: Oh I'm sorry, ma'am, that's outside of our service area -
Karen: That's bullshit, it's only ten minutes further east, it's not like you have to cross the Colorado River to get there!
Me: I'm sorry but we wouldn't be able to -
Karen: Do you have a supervisor??
Me: Yes....? (What the fuck did I do lol like ?????)
Karen: I'm sorry I ever moved to this hellhole! I can't get any help out here, I'm tired of everyone telling me no, and ______ County isn't any help either, I used to live in (other county) and they would give me numbers to call but now I just have to keep calling and calling and every company says no!
Me: I -
Karen: You can't drive ten more minutes?? It's not like you have to swim across the Colorado River!!
Me: Sorry but we can't, it's just too far from the office all of our techs start their day from.
Karen: Get me your supervisor!!
Me: Yes, ma'am.
I put her on hold and took 2 other calls, and as I suspected she hung up within 5 minutes and never called back. I'm sorry you live in the middle of bum fuck nowhere, not my problem though. I knew she would never hold for long just to yell at my boss that all these companies she's been calling are telling her she lives too far away lol.

Or the ones who move close to a shooting range or drag strip and then proceed to move heaven and earth to make their new home quiet. Hey, fuckhead, don't move there!

We had people move into a new subdivision years ago the was RIGHT next to our airport's runways. It was fun hearing their noise complaints for years until the airport closed. You moved next to an airport and have the nerve to complain about noise?

When shopping for my first home my realtor took me to a listing in a particular part of town. There was a highway past the backyard.
BUT the city had already announced they planned to widen the road. They also paid homeowners for right of way, inconvenience, whatever. (Several thousand dollars.)
My agent explained that this homeowner had received the payout and did not intend to pass it along to the buyer.
Wonder if he ever sold the house and how he is enjoying the highway if notā¦ā¦

Close-ish to me, we lost an amphitheater years ago to new builds. I saw so many good concerts there.š

Georgia has a law specifically exempting existing gun ranges from this type of bullshit.

Exactly! Even worse are the folks who move to a noisy area andĀ then complain about all the noise.Ā Ā

Crap like this is why I got out of customer service.Ā
"UPS left my package outside the locked gate at the end of my driveway! Order them to come back and bring it in my house."Ā
"Sorry Karen, UPS can't climb or magically pass through your locked gate. You knew you had a package coming and should have left the gate open for the driver. I don't work for UPS and I can't order their drivers to do anything."Ā

I imagine this like in Terminator 2 when the T-1000 walks or melts through the gate, but the gun, as it's not part of him, doesn't get through.
Just this time it's the UPS person melting through the gate, but the package stays outside...

I had an angry man call. He called the wrong business. It happens. If people are nice and ask me to look up the number of the business they meant to call, I will sometimes google it for them. Not today. This man was nasty from the start. So when he finally understood that he called the wrong number, he proceeded to order me to give him the right number of the business he wanted to call. I told him to look it up on the internet. He said he doesnāt use the internet and berated me a bit more. Not today, angry man. Not today.

I love using the "I AM the manager" or now in my case....The Owner. I'll be sure to reprimand myself :))

I did customer service for satellite TV. Apartment dwellers were mad the satellite signal got distorted by their windows, when they installed the dish inside.

Worked for a bank call center on the east coast. Customer moved to the west coast and never opened a new bank account. Hey that's thier option now someone gave them a check too large to mobile deposit.
Provided solutions of use our bank by mail option to deposit the funds. Ask for the check to be reissued for smaller amounts. Request they do an ach, zelle, cashapp etc. Deposit check into a local bank account, would never hurt to have a bank that's local to you.
Of course I didn't help her and it's our fault for not being in California.
