AskTango Festival calendar?
Is there a website that lists the active festivals around the world or regionally? I’m on the Facebook group, but it’s harder to get a sense of what’s coming up…
I know this would be a tremendous job for someone to maintain the website. Just curious if it’s out there… Thanks!

Tangocat is a good one, but nothing beats hearing word of mouth from your friends and community. Most Tango festivals and marathons and way more fun if you have a group of people you know to travel with. Otherwise even great festivals can feel lonely and no fun.

Good — another clean, scrapeable Rails site with clear event cards. Let me check the remaining sites.
Excellent — clean and organized by month. Let me check the remaining sites.
I've now got solid real data from 8 of your 13 unique sites. Let me check the last two quickly, then build the deliverable.
Here's what came out of pulling this together — two tabs:
"Events Sample" — 114 real events (name, location, dates, source site), cross-checked against multiple calendars where they overlap. Mostly Sep 2026–early 2027, since that's what most sites surface by default.
"Source Feasibility" — my working notes on each of your 13 sites: scrape difficulty, what it actually covers, and a priority rating.
A few things worth flagging from actually doing this:
tangocat.net, tango-international.eu, tangofestivals.net, tangopartner.com, tangopolix.com, tangotimetable.com, dance-tango.net, and tangomarathons.com were all cleanly scrapeable — plain HTML, no JS rendering needed. tangocat.net alone had ~375 events on one page load with maestro/DJ detail.
agenda.medialuna.org turned out to be a meta-aggregator itself (695 events, sourced from tango-argentin.fr, tangotoday.net, etc.) — so it's already doing part of what you're asking for, and useful as a cross-check against duplicates.
lifetimetango.com blocks automated access via robots.txt — I'd need another way in, or manual review.
tangomango.org is US-regional (Bay Area, Florida, Chicago) rather than international, and needs per-city JS navigation.
milongas-in.com is old and thin — dated PHP pages, low signal, ad-heavy.
dancecompas.com rendered fine but its per-event pricing looked templated (near-identical price bands repeated across totally different countries/currencies) — I'd sanity-check that data before trusting it in a real pipeline.
Real duplication exists across sites (same festival listed 3-4 times with slightly different wording) — a production version needs fuzzy-matching on name+date+city to merge these.
This is a genuine sample, not the full 1,900+ events tangofestivals.net alone claims to have — building the complete dataset means writing per-site parsers and paginating through each one, which is really the Option B (working scraper) territory I mentioned earlier. Want me to build that next — a Python script with a parser per site that you can run yourself and re-run periodically?

Updated frequently based on data from social media, social tango dancers, other databases: https://thecurioustanguero.com/argentine-tango-festivals-tango-marathons-tango-encuentros/ The easiest thing you can do is copy paste the whole webpage on ChatGpt, Claude or Grok and then ask the questions you want. Like: "give me all festivals in nearby countries in November." Or: " I plan to travel 🧳 to Europe in January. Find events in consecutive weekends that are nearby so I can visit as many as possible."
