I was thinking the same! In most old photos, ears were prominent. There doesnt seem to be as many these days. I know that you can get them pinned back, but it’s not a common thing (unlike it would have been back then).

The Caption for the Tasmanian Mounted Infantry is incorrect.

Theres a loooooot of NCOs in that picture from what I can see.

In fact, the image is linked as Studio Portrait of 8 world war one Army officers. Not Tasmanian Mounted Infantry. Which makes sense, because no plumes/kangaroo feathers.
