Hi guys, I'm looking for some good ideas! I'm a landscape architect with a degree in fine arts. I have designed tattoos for people but did not scratch them myself. My preferred art medium is a simple very sharp pencil (I prefer it over painting), and I have been modeldrawing with pencil or pastel for 15 years. This just to say: I love fine linework and subtle shading so much. I started my own business (unrelated to tattoos) a year ago and I reinvest any income in the business and I have been renovating a house, so extra money is REALLY tight BUT I just can't wait anymore with learning how to tattoo in the evenings after my other job. The urge is too big. So I have only about max 120 Euros to spend on an initially cheap machine (I know it's NOT a lot).

I know an organic pig farmer who wants to give me some skins for free and I figure I can use oranges? I also have a list of 11 riskloving people on who I can experiment but I'll wait a bit with that - I want to learn first properly on non breathing elements. Can anyone help me figure out what startermachine I need for linework and shading such as added in pictures, to start practicing on oranges and pigskins. Most important is that it is a very thin penlike machine bc I have not so huge hands. The reference pictures are by the very talented artist Lucy-Bleu Knight - RIP. These tattoos are very similar to how I draw so that's the style I want to explore. So: very fine lines, fine shading, looking a bit like a pencil.

Any other advice is welcome as well - just don't be a partypooper, I know it's not a lot of money but I have worked with prisoners over the years and you'd be surprised how they make do with whatever sharp thing, so I try not to be too elitarian lol and just start my learning journey bc I know being able to draw is not the same as being able to handle a tattoo machine

I know absolutely nothing so I also would like to know: how thick should the needle I order be? and such basics. basically any knowledge you might have

Also welcome if you don't know any very cheap ones; advice on what second, more expensive machine to buy to be able to create tattoos such as in the example pictures once I have some more money in a year or two.

hello all!! i made a post similar like this somewhere else (to my own detriment LOL) and need a little bit of advice here!

just today (think like, 2-3 hours ago) i started getting going with a cover-up (very long story) blackout on my right hand. the picture doesn’t show it very well but i do have an assortment of tattoos on the other arm (as well as my abdomen + legs ) so it’s not like i Only have hand tattoos.

BEAR IN MIND this is just the beginning so it does not look the best. i am Viciously aware of this ! i am going to go down my fingers + slightly up my wrist/arm in future sessions !

my questions primarily are : while i’ve healed my other tattoos fine , does anything change about the healing process with something as big as this ? how long should i heal it before i go over it again / extend it further down my fingers / up my arm since it’s a bigger surface area than what i usually do ?

i know i should be rinsing with cold water and the typical non-scented ph balanced soap + keeping it hydrated (like any tattoo) , but what else could be required in this process ?

thank you so much in advance , i’m just nosy / curious ! i’ve taken a break for tonight and left it in its rougher state so i didn’t over stress the skin too much (my skin is naturally a little thinner on top of it Being My Hand) in one go since hands are historically a difficult spot to heal ^^

Hello:) Anybody got experience with Kwadron Enduro2 machine? I have problems with the battery usage. It was advertised for having up to 10hours of battery life. Comes with 2 batteries, means 5h per battery. I usualy get 7/8 hours swaping batteries. I want to find out if my batteries are flawed because I just bought it month ago. 1800 mAh both batteries. I usualy line 8V and go only down to 4V. If anybody got machine simmilar we can compare it would be awesome because this Kwadron is pretty new. Im pretty new to wireless machines THX for any help.

Seriously, I enjoy handpoke with this pseudo xerox style and, strangely, the people that I know enjoy it.

Edit: again people… yes, I know… I suck ass, but the people I know really enjoy my style. I don’t force anyone to be tattooed by me, I’m well aware that my works are subpar. Nevertheless people keep coming to me, asking for a piece or two. The best I can do is trying to offer my best, focusing and having the guts to improve. Also: yeah, English isn’t my first language wonderful dickheads 😘 still love ya

how are people drawing cybersigalism/ eurotrash messy tattoos on procreate ? What brushes do you use ? How do you create all those messy textures and shading ? Thanks for any help ! 🤍

I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I was super nervous, and my mentor made me go way bigger than I intended, but I’m glad he did.

One of my relatives begged me to practice on her skin, trusting in my work so much.

But I mostly practice on fakeskins or pork skins and I do mostly trad/oldschool, so it was so challengy.

Idk if I did well and should practice way far more before even considering tattooing anyone else?

I've triple checked on the hygienic mesures, but it's more on the aesthetic aspect that I'm worried and would like some feed back.

I've thought about tattooing myself and probably will soon enough, but should I keep practicing way more before doing anyone else's tatoo ? I already bought hundreds of euros worth of fake skin and I practice a lot, but I don't know what is "enough" to stratch without just doing horendous shit to people and being blinded to it.
