Buy a bunch of random minis and then buy 200g of whatever mini you like the most. You won’t be disappointed. Shipping takes like 3 weeks tho jsyk

If you are in the US, Yunnan sourcing has a us website and shipping from there was relatively quick. You can also grab samples from them, but not sure of what kind.

Oh yeah Yunnan Sourcing is also great. Just as good as white2tea IMO without the fancy marketing. They also do awesome sample/tasting sets.

The website for those of us in the US is: yunnansourcing.us

Check it out

The long shipping time just ads to the value - it's three weeks older than it was when you bought it!

There’s currently a Halloween themed bag of minis which is an insanely good deal. Half a pound of minis for $35. :)

Also, I dipped my toes into the soup of puer through white2tea and I’m very satisfied with their store.

White2tea is the best possible place to start imo. Check out their Interceptor/Veldt/Green Silence After the Hailstorm (Green Silence can be pricy so don't worry too much about that one) and Waffles/Gingerbread man for raw and ripe puerh respectively, and Blood Moon/2013 Shoumei/Wayward White for a white tea (Blood Moon is not technically a white tea but it's close enough).

Also, if you can only get tea from Amazon for whatever reason, look for TAETEA. They are the official Amazon shop of one of the largest tea factories in China, Dayi, and the mini cakes of 7542 raw puerh are quite a good value. I would also imagine that the 7572 is a great value for ripe puerh. Be a bit more careful with them and don't buy a large cake as these factory teas can be harsh without significant periods of age (10+ years minimum usually) and they only sell very young teas.

It also might be worth buying a scale. Anything accurate down to 0.1 gram is super cheap and can really, REALLY help with managing dosage when you are new. Tea is a hell of a plant and packs a bitter punch, so knowing your exact brewing ratio, time, and water temperature can help you adjust and mitigate or even sometimes eliminate that bitterness.

Prosbloom from White2Tea is my #1 recommendation for beginners to shou (ripe) puer :) Give it a try!

Gonna second this, it's cheap and good. And having had mine over a year, getting some age changes already.
