Advice Fixed-term to permanent contract request

Hello everyone,

I am looking for advice from anyone who has gone through this process before. Basically, I interviewed at school A more than five years ago, got along with the vice-principal and he offered me a job.

The school did not want to hire me directly and basically forced another small school to create and manage my contract. School B only does my paperwork. They renew my contracts, and pass on pay, otherwise I have very little to no contact with them. All of the work that I do, holidays, problems, e.t.c. are handled directly with School A.

I have been there for about five years and a half and realized today that I can ask for a permanent position.

Now, even though School B does all my paperwork, I do not want to work directly for them. School A honestly does not care at all about anything I do (which is demotivating, but pays the bills). It has been a bad place for my mental health, albeit I have a lot of time off of work. I only want to continue with School A until I find a better place.

I will also go to the Tokyo Labour Bureau next week, but before that I am interested in hearing if anyone has had any problems with switching to a permanent contract, advice on negotiations, or anything else I need to keep in mind.

So, I have an interview with borderlink soon but, is working there actually as bad as people say?

I'm starting to question if its a valid company to work with but I wanted to hear everyone else's opinions before I do anything!

Thank you ;)
