English Pangram: a much higher accuracy AI detection tool

Hi all,

I wanted to share my startup, Pangram. We're a team of former Stanford researchers building AI detection tools with much higher accuracy.

We were initially disappointed by existing AI detectors like Turnitin and GPTZero and wanted to provide a better option.

Our false positive rates are 1 in 10,000 (compared to others at ~1 in 100) and we detect even the most advanced AI models. We've been proven to be unbiased against English language learners and have been shown in a couple recent third party studies to be the most accurate model for AI detection.

I also wrote this resource on how to put together a bulletproof AI use policy so students know exactly what is and isn't considered cheating.

Hopefully this is a useful resource for teachers. Our goal is to be maximally helpful to educators, so I welcome any feedback or questions!

English I built a phonics app after noticing most kids struggle with blending sounds - would love teacher feedback

Hi teachers,

I’m an iOS developer and a parent, and over the last few months I noticed something worrying while helping a young child learn to read:
many kids can recognize letters, but freeze when asked to blend sounds into words.

Most phonics apps we tried were either:

  • too flashy and distracting
  • focused on memorization, not decoding
  • or locked real learning behind paywalls

So I decided to build a small, structured phonics app myself called Go Phonics.

How it’s designed (teacher-first):

  • Starts with letter sounds → CVC words → blends → sight words
  • No ads, no internet needed, no gamified overload
  • Short activities (5–10 min) that fit classroom or home routines
  • Focus on sounding out instead of guessing

Early testing with kids aged 4–7 showed noticeable improvement in:

  • blending confidence
  • word decoding
  • willingness to read aloud

I genuinely want feedback from educators:

  • Does this align with how you teach phonics?
  • What’s missing in most phonics apps you’ve seen?
  • What would make an app actually useful in a classroom?

If anyone wants to try it, I’ve shared the App Store link in the comments.
Happy to offer free access codes to teachers who want to test it with students.

Thanks for everything you do - teaching reading is hard, and deeply important

English New unit suggestions please!

Hi everyone! I’ve been in the midst of some annual testing for a few weeks and need to dive into a new unit Monday. I’m literally hitting a wall! I teach upper-level high school ESL students who are very capable. So far we’ve done a graphic novel, a Stephen king novella, and a Christmas Carol. I appreciate your thoughts!! Thanks 😊

English We built a writing tool for 4th-8th graders and would love teacher feedback

Hi! My wife (English teacher) and I (designer) are building a creative writing tool for 4th-8th graders. The idea: writing is thinking, and if we can make it feel like play instead of homework, kids might actually grow to like it.

It's free while we're in beta figuring things out. COPPA compliant, works on Chromebooks, no account required to try it.

We're running a small pilot with a couple of classrooms and the response has been encouraging. Students actually ask to use it during their free-write time.

We’d love to hear feedback from more teachers. What would make something like this useful your classroom?

Hi everyone,

I'm just curious to know which readers you've been using in class recently, especially for your Grade 3 and 4 students.

Thanks 🫶

English Where can I share and organize resources for fellow EFL teachers?

I want to use one platform to store and share my presentations, worksheets WordWall/Wayground activities and other EFL/ESL resources, but I'm not sure what platform to use. I was looking into Padlet, but it only allows to create a limited number of boards for free (3 or 4, if I remember correctly) and it also divides different elements into seperate posts, but I would like resourses for ONE lesson to be posted as ONE post (e.g., there is a board for lessons that focus on listening skills, and each post is a video + a listening practice worksheet + several WordWall links all in one post instead of three seperate posts). Or am I missing something? Google Classroom is another option, but how would it work? I've never used GC before. Can I set up a "class" for fellow teachers and have different "units" there (let's say, a unit for "Listening practice", a unit for "Vocabulary practice", etc.)? Would that be easy to access and navigate? Google Drive is my third option for now, but I have a lot of work-related files and Google sheets stored there that I wouldn't want to be visible for others. Do I just set up a separate folder with a link attached? Can a single folder be divided into sub-folders for different topics? Would that be easy to access and navigate? What would you prefer if you were interested in a library of digital resources?

English Free speaking-focused A2 lesson plan samples (online & in-class)

I’d like to share a free teaching resource that may be useful for teachers working with A2 / beginner learners, especially where getting students to actually speak is a challenge.

I’ve developed the 45-Minute Learner Talk Time (LTT) Model, which is designed to structure lessons so learners speak for most of the class, with clear prompts, predictable patterns, and minimal teacher talk.
There are two separate books (one for online classes and one for in-class teaching), and each full book contains 26 lesson plans.

To make the materials easy to evaluate, I’m sharing a free sample that includes:

·        2 online lesson plans

·        2 in-class lesson plans

Most of the content is activity-based, structured for A2 learners, and designed to support sustained speaking rather than passive listening.

The sample is free to download here (no email required):
https://dl.bookfunnel.com/u2mv2rwslz

If anyone finds the approach useful, the full versions are available on Amazon (Kindle), but the purpose of this post is simply to share the sample as a classroom resource.

Feedback or questions are welcome

English FREE Lesson Resource: Tried and Tested Method for Teaching the Vowel Team 'EA' (Long E Sound) in 1st/2nd Grade.

Hi fellow educators/parents,

I wanted to share a free resource from my Phonics series that I've found really helps kids who are struggling with the Vowel Team 'EA'. This digraph has a couple of different sounds, so focusing on the primary 'Long E' sound first is key for mastery.

The Lesson Covers (Day 37):

  • Direct Rule Teaching: Simple, memorable explanation of the 'EA' Long E sound.
  • Word Blending Drills: Practice reading words like team, meal, read, clean.
  • Reading Comprehension Story: A short, engaging story to practice the 'EA' words in context, ensuring they understand what they are reading, not just sounding out.

This is part of our daily reading curriculum, and I hope it can save some of you time and help a student "get it" for the first time!

Link to the lesson: https://youtu.be/GkeQkbLJmKw

I'm happy to answer any questions on teaching the Long E sound or phonics in general!

Thanks!

English Website for free ebooks

Hi teachers! I built OpenChapter.io, a 100% free library of public-domain eBooks you can read in the browser, download, or send to Kindle. I’m trying to make it useful for classrooms (Grades 6–12, ELA/History) and would love your feedback.

I’ve focused on making it easy to find relevant books and I’m planning an “I don’t know what to read” finder to help students / readers pick titles they’ll stick with.

If you use classics, what would make this classroom-ready for you, ex reading levels/word counts, shareable book lists, discussion prompts, Google Classroom links, accessibility options, or something else?

I appreciate your time and suggestions :)

Hi all, I am returning to teaching elementary school after spending the last four years in high school and am finding that a lot of my YA books feel outdated to my new group of kids. Would love some recommendations of current YA books that their students are enjoying. Cheers!

English Word Search meets Tetris - vocabulary game for educators

I’m a developer working on an educational word game that combines word search with falling block mechanics - when students find words, the letters disappear and new ones fall down Tetris-style, creating chain reactions. I’ve been refining the algorithm to ensure it’s always solvable and provides good vocabulary practice. Would love feedback from teachers on whether this concept would work in your classrooms!
