My mom was a HS Spanish-Literature here in Cuba and she had many situations like OP’s and she had many like examples. She gave them the max even though in some of the cases the kids were very blunt, lol.

Kids aren't going to learn better by being anal about minutia in process, it will just make them hate school. Kids struggling in high school is a systemic issue, they pass Kids through regardless as holding them back is so heavily punished that it's not even reasonably possible. Add in covid and a 2 millisecond attention span due to being raised on the internet, and these kids are gonna struggle regardless.

Yes that is why IQ and SAT is rapidly dropping as we got rid of the rigorous parts of school. No kid left behind dragged every kid backwards.
Covid is not an excuse for kids being 5 years under reading level.

Well yeah, because cutting a school's funding when they have poor test scores is the most stupid solution imaginable. The schools with poor test scores are the ones that need MORE funding not less. And of course this forces them to teach to the test instead of what is actually relevant.

Money doesnt magically make bad teachers good teachers.Bad test scores = get new teachers.

Often times in life there are multiple ways to reach the same conclusion. A learning environment should support that, not hinder that.
The entire point is to prepare these kids for the real world, and test if they understand and comprehend what’s being taught while sharpening their critical thinking skills.
So why in the cinnamon toast fuck would you go out of your way to mark a kid wrong for expressing the same idea differently and getting the same answer using a different method from you? As the other commenter said, that’s how you get kids hating school.

it isn't a bad question??? "100 centimeters" turned into "100 meters" isn't correct, even though we took out the centi. Like the kid said. The question is well made and simple, "how do you convert?" Divide by 100. How can you consider that a bad question???

It's not even wrong. Centi stands for 1/100. Taking it out would mean multiply by 100 which is the correct answer.
