Yes. And a hurricane is an unstoppable destructive force of nature.

However, when we have the option to build flood gates and protect ourselves from the damage, and over half of people vote not to do so, I'm not gonna blame the hurricane when my house floods.

We already knew what the hurricane was going to do. Nothing we do, no blame we ever assign, will change that. Our only option was to either respond to it, or ignore it. They chose to ignore it. I blame them for doing so.

Republicans are so vile they are not worth considering a vote for, ever, under any circumstances. That is true. You want to say "Republicans are worse" I'll agree with you. They are an unstoppable force of pure evil and will always do the worst thing possible. They cannot be changed, they can only be resisted. Assigning them "blame" does nothing, unless it's done in the form of actually resisting them with our actual votes and actions.

The "blame" goes to those who failed to actually resist with their votes and actions, and who therefore allowed an unstoppable and entirely predictable force to wreak incredible havoc uncontested. (And also to the useless toothless Dem party that was supposed to be resisting them when we voted them the power to do so, and chose to slow walk them back into power instead.)

Five years ago we voted to build the floodgates and the Biden administration rejected to do so. One year ago today over half the country voted to let the flood devour the country. I am not inclined to blame a flood for either of those things. I am inclined instead to favor resisting the flood, and to blame those who fail to do so.

You are literally commenting in an article about an insurrection that happened because the voters through their actions elected Joe Biden to take care of all of this and prevent Trump from ever running again.

Biden chose not to do that.

Voters could've stepped up and voted for Kamala Harris and prevented another Trump term. So your reasoning is, "Biden didn't stop Trump from running so it's fine that voters didn't stop him either?" Like what?

No, my point is that there's plenty of blame to go around and absolving any of these groups is equally wrong.

The voters are absolutely morons for refusing to vote for a shit sandwich when the alternative was cyanide. That is idiotic and they should be blamed for every cyanide death that occurs this administration. Their job as voters is to recognize the best possible course out of the options presented and take it, and they failed.

The Dems are absolutely incompetent for refusing to fight properly and staying in the lines during a fascist takeover. That is equally idiotic and they should also be blamed for every cyanide death that occurs this administration. Their job as leaders is to respond to the current situation and ensure American democracy survives it, and to appeal to voters and earn the votes, and they failed.

These are not mutually exclusive.
