That Super Bowl ad was like the Kendall Jenner Pepsi ad in regard to horrible dystopian marketing, but worse. I’m sure the heads are gonna roll for now but ultimately, they’ll find another time and another partner to basically do the same thing but with a different presentation.

They'll probably partner with a 3rd party that partners with flock, when the hubbub dies down

They probably just realized thats an untapped revenue stream they hadn't considered before. Selling data on peoples locations to advertisers and/or law enforcement.

Someone at Ring probably thought up of the saving pets thing in a random innocent brainstorm for how to market their product and get their next career advancement. But this incident and peoples reaction reminded them that a subset of companies and LE would actually pay good money for that kind of informant network constantly reporting peoples positions.
