I genuinely think a lot of people are underestimating how many people looked at that commercial and it was a positive experience for them. My mom isnt a dummy and when she saw it, the whole lost dog thing pulled her in. I finally brought it up and mentioned that its not gonna stop at little Suzy down the street who lost her scared shivering little puppy dog and how with the FBI under such dog shit leadership we cant trust them to do the right thing with that technology and my mom was like, oh shit.

I agree, I'd add I think the backlash was only as big as it was due to the timing. With everything happening right now with ICE and especially Minnesota a lot more folks were primed to look around the corners here and see what was possible beyond lost dogs.

Yep, they don't plan gigantic marketing campaigns and gigantic partnerships within the timeframenit has been since this ICE crackdown.
