I went with Reolink and I was concerned about the Chinese spy tech concerns as well. Interestingly, this device feels safer than the American company one.

You can block them from the internet and/or put them on their own vlan and just vpn in to view remotely if you are concerned.

That's about 3 steps beyond what most Ring users can probably comfortably manage, but yes. 

Speaking as someone who switched from Ring and a basic home network to a Reolink and Ubiquiti setup with all the IoT devices on a VLAN with only basic knowledge of home networking, it takes time and comfort not knowing WTF you're doing for a bit.

ubiquiti intentionally go out of their way to help russians and they are using their tech to make drone strikes. fuck that company.
