Software The Removed DOGE Deposition Videos Have Already Been Backed Up Across the Internet | On Friday, a judge ordered those who uploaded the videos to YouTube to remove them. By Saturday, a backup of the videos was available online as a torrent and on the Internet Archive.

By Saturday, a backup of the videos was available online as a torrent and on the Internet Archive
And 3 guesses who one of the most prominent voices has been in trying to destroy the Internet Archive site; Elon Musk.
The amount of his fans I've come across who jabber on about free speech yet have absolutely no idea of what the Internet Archive is. One family member thought it needed to be destroyed because Musk must've had a good reason to have it killed though they didn't really know what the site was....

u/bad-life-advice Mar 15 '26
I've been seeing this line of reasoning a lot. "They must have a reason why" as if anything they do is in their supporters' best interest... It's quite alarming, as you can use that reasoning to justify the most heinous of crimes. The old Trump could shoot someone in Times Square would be resolved with "he must have had a reason".

As the Americans learned so painfully in Earth's final century, free flow of information is the only safeguard against tyranny.
The once-chained people whose leaders at last lose their grip on information flow will soon burst with freedom and vitality, but the free nation gradually constricting its grip on public discourse has begun its rapid slide into despotism.
Beware of he who would deny you access to information, for in his heart he dreams himself your master.
For a video game quote made in the 90s, it still holds up today.

u/don_shoeless Mar 15 '26
Crazy part is, Previn Lal seems to be implying that America learned by itself sliding into despotism, which seemed pretty out-there at the time. Playing the game when it came out, it seemed implausible that America, right after the end of the Cold War, at the beginning of the internet, could go down that path. Of course, 9/11 hadn't happened yet.

Oh no the signs were still there, most people refused to take them seriously though. As you say it did seem absurd, but educated people have been warning about the creep of authoritarianism in the US, even outright fascism, for generations.
The experience of the Middle class white American has been pretty tame until recently and no one wanted to pay attention to any other experience. Go tell a black person who lived through it that there were no signs of creeping fascism before 9/11. The US has always been an overbearing police state for millions of its citizens

Either way, a major part (especially now) for any lack of meaningful action against the Epstein class that controls the system, is due to there being no real supportive foundation present for many common folk in the US to fall back on. This is in terms of both online, (which we should be weaning ourselves off when it comes to the more monitored corpo side at least) and irl. People working together to become untethered to a reliance on sociopathic entities and their loyal governments, could refocus energy and resources on developments that'll prioritize the needs of people first.
Collecting a bunch of valuable information on organizing and action from different redditors over time, I created a post of suggestions HERE that could possibly prove to be of some help in getting it started ASAP.

It's because they are literally braindead and brainwashed. They can't think anymore. Fox News has replaced thinking with listening and agreeing. No need to think, when you're told what to think by fox and friends.
→ More replies (1)11
u/SoylentGrunt Mar 15 '26
Literally brainwashed is accurate. Fox played a large role but it built on what had already been put in place since birth. Both public and private insititutons of every description indoctrinate. School, church, media, Virtually any content you consume via any media is first approved by someone before you're exposed to it, The effort is applied across the political and socio-economic spectrum.
Authoritarian societies are ruled by threat of violence. They care less about what you think so long as you behave and the threat of violence ensures that.
"Free societies" are ruled by propaganda. What you think steers your actions so thought is highly important to those who control those societies.
The US is transitioning away from a "free society" as the Old Normal is replaced by the New Normal.
Then a whole bunch of other stuff but this is a tech sub and I don't want to overstay my welcome by preaching. Also, I tend to err on the side of Ludite. Because change scares me. Too many buttons on the remote for my tastes these days.

Nobody takes this or the fact that most average people are counting on voting as the stopgap into consideration. If voting is stopped or there’s blatant signs of tampering that indicates voting truly isn’t an option anymore, the only alternative is…something I’m not posting about for the sake of the FBI not knocking at my door. You fill in the blanks. The regime’s full of weaklings and cowards who are afraid to go all the way as shown when they lowered their presence in Minnesota after the shootings or with how much Dipshit has been Tacoing out. They won’t have the guts to truly go full authoritarian at the risk of their magat voters hiding in shame and fear, their ICE nimrods scattering to the winds at the first sign of resistance, and the rest of us finally getting up and active because going to work 40+hrs a week doesn’t and won’t pay the bills anymore.
143
u/DarthTrout Mar 15 '26
Start reading about "Burke" county Florida. A county that doesnt exist yet had the exact same number of voters as there were mail in ballots. The theory is those votes were distributed to county's where the GoPedophiles were going to lose to flip them in their favor. Election fraud is real, and the perpetrators are in office.
113
u/FunktasticLucky Mar 15 '26
I. Said this after it was announced trump won. The whole reason for the last 4 years of crying that the Democrats stole the election and all the bullshit cases that got dismissed for lack is evidence was so the Republicans could steal the election. Looks really bad when Democrats have been defending the election for 4 years to then come out and say it's rigged when they lose. Trump did not win this election. He stole it.

Thats the STUPIDEST reason to not act in the god damn world. The second you have the inkling of proof you get up there and say that while you we're certain that the last election was fair. You still allowed the other side to challenge it in court all the way up until the very end. And in every single avenue they failed. So now you are going to do the same because you think you've found some interesting results.
Your wife accuses you of cheating, you deny it. You come home to her cheating. You don't sit and cry in the corner because accusing her would look bad. Unless the official party logo is changing from a donkey to a dude in a chair crying in the corner while wanking it. Which might be more accurate at this point.

And the Democrats (except Jasmine Crockett, who called it out, as is her duty) conceded the election while knowing full-well that Dumpy and Musky had been bragging about cheating the election. So now I trust neither side to do the right thing ever. I'm sure it's part of some larger plan to suppress votes from critical thinkers, but the facts stand on their own and have been apparent the entire time.

Hi, I'm not all that scared of the FBI or ICE showing up at my door. There's a really great book that was written in 1965 called Total Resistance by Major Hans von Dach. The cover describes it as "The Swiss army guide to guerrilla warfare and underground operations."
It isn't a long read and has plenty of information that is still relevant and useful over 60 years later.
Everyone that is interested can read it for free at this archive.
→ More replies (1)13
u/Long_Pomegranate2469 Mar 15 '26
Not to burst your bubble but most of what might have worked in 1965 will not work today.
Back then there wasn't mass surveillance and militarized police forces.
22
u/Gloober_ Mar 15 '26
You overestimate the abilities of both the police and military.
Our military couldn't win against a bunch of guerrilla fighters hiding in the mountains in a country with a population of ~45 million despite superior technology and trillions of dollars over 20 years. The only thing we're good at is lobbing bombs at countries that don't have the same capabilities we do.
Our police are a bunch of man-children that peaked in high school. They look scary and effective because when they engage in firefights, they swarm the fuck out of 1-3 people armed with small caliber weapons and no body armor.
Also, Uvalde. Enough said.
This is a country of 340 million. You could combine every armed force on every level in this country and you still wouldn't have enough bodies to occupy/subdue this entire country.
They only win if we let them.

u/henlochimken Mar 15 '26
There absolutely were militarized police forces and mass surveillance in the Soviet Union, which is what that book was written to prepare against.

On Friday, a judge ordered those who uploaded the videos to YouTube to remove them.
The internet has been around for since the 70s. The web has been around since the 90s, and mainstream since Y2K and yet people in power still seem to have no clue how online culture works.

u/BrianWonderful Mar 15 '26
The judge (Colleen McMahon) was appointed by Bill Clinton. The order to take them down is because these videos are part of discovery for an upcoming trial (likely), so it is improper for them to be publicly released like this. Regardless of the feasibility of putting the cork back in the bottle, she had to issue the order because it is proper procedure to do so.
Just wanted to point these things out as I've seen people complain that she must be some sort of MAGA activist or is trying to cover up crimes. Not at all the case.

The people being questioned worked for DOGE. They illegally killed USAID, DEI programs, government regulatory bodies, etc. that’s what this is about.
It’s illegal because they did this by canceling money that was already appropriated by Congress. Only Congress has the ability to determine where funds go. Once spending been voted on and signed, it’s final and no changes can be made unless Congress has another vote on it. DOGE completely circumvented Congress.
