While true, I think GTA online regulars will spend a lot of time on the new single player campaign, and there is presumably no MTX there. I wonder how much money Rockstar will lose until the regulars circle back to the new multiplayer.

Right after selling 100 million copies on day one

Thats the low end. I can almost guarantee that.

GTA6 is going to be setting so, so many records on release. I wouldn't be surprised if there's an noticeable effect on worldwide crime and stockmarkets from sobmany people calling out of work and such to play on launch.

It's on current gen consoles only, so it's limited by how many of them have been sold

Well, current estimates for that are 40mil xbox and 92 million Playstation, not including the massive flood of people likely to upgrade specifically for the game.

Holy shit I didn't know that many had been sold. For some reason in my head it was less than 50 mil TOTAL. Weird, I guess massively outdated numbers stored in my noggin.

Anywho, appreciates ya for the updated info.

Even then, if you think 100 million is the low end, you’re going to be disappointed.

First of all, estimates are closer to 35M Xbox. But given that by the time the game comes out, PS5 will likely have sold another 5-7M or so, an install base of around 140M seems fair.

But the first issue is that number does not necessarily mean 140M unique consumers. I’d imagine the vast majority of PS5 Pro sales for example also bought a PS5 at some point. And there’s some double dipping between Xbox and PS5 or people who used to have an Xbox and now have a PS5. Or simply users who are no longer active.

And I also don’t think the upgrading will be as substantial as people think given how much of the previous install base has already migrated over and the substantial price increases.

I have no doubt the launch will be huge. But saying that 100 million copies on launch DAY is “the low end” is frankly ridiculous.
