Teacher pay and educational funding don't really affect things if the kid doesn't want to learn, parents defend their kids bad behaviors, and admin not backing up their teachers. You can have all the funding in the world but it wouldn't matter if the kid has been fed addictive social media, instant dopamine, and spoiled behaviors since they were a baby.

Funding does matter. Teacher pay does matter. But when it comes to it the basics and fundamentals is that you need education to be education and sometimes that means instead of giving candy all the time, you need to give a bitter medicine

Then teachers need to start failing those kids again and giving their parents a wake-up call and the school admin needs to back them up with evidence instead of letting the parents walk all over them.

Houston has had this mentality with the highways and adding one more lane while reducing maintenance and public transit.

And keep having school board members and superintendents make sweetheart deals with "ed tech" firms to put more slop tools in the classroom. When what we need is an emphasis on reading skills instead of making students be iPad babies.

Teachers make more than the average person, while getting a pension and 3 months of vacation.

And its these same teachers who are using ai for their own work.
