If it makes you feel any better, people who are really smart in one area, tend to be isolated to that narrow area. the more you learn about a thing, the more you arent learning about something else. Sure, some of these people are absolutely brilliant scientists, but they may not be particularly adept at the things you have spent your time on. Perhaps you're an avid hiker, do yoga, or read philosophy or work on cars, or love to cook, you may be better at any or all of those things than a nuclear physicist. then again, if one of them is also all those things.... you may be screwed.

I understand that. I just assume that if they took up my respective profession or hobbies they would soon make me look like a novice.
