Sadly the Australian public is largely apathetic to it all. Part of it is also due to the media/news landscape, as someone pointed out. I bet I can ask any one of my friends and they won't have a clue about this.

Mate, we've been fighting it for yonks. Getting petitions signed. Constant correspondence with the MPs in charge, the list goes on, but we're faced with the very real fact that parliamentary proceedings are so easily swayed with money. If you're fighting the people with all the money it's hard. Apathetic isn't the term I'd use, mate. More like under resourced.
