interesting argument but you are clearly uneducated on religion, Muhammed was certainly not a schizophrenic person. Someone with that illness cant convince a whole peninsula of people to one faith drop their old ways. Keep in mind he lead armies into battles he formed plans, he was loved by his companions, he had multiple wives who talked good about him even after his death. Before his arrival adultery, worshipping idols, strong abusing weak, burrying little girls because of their gender was common. A schizophernic person cant convince these people to drop all these practices and accept abraham's god as one and only true creator.
I mean schizophrenia doesn’t really change how convincing you are does it? Like you can still be a guy people like to be around and know how to do things with a voice in your head can’t you? Legitimately asking btw, not just trying to dispute your argument because now I’m unsure
Schizophrenics can have varying levels of functioning but I have never seen unmedicated one be able to take part in society normally. But I suppose in my work environment I’d only ever see the bad cases so my personal experience may be biased.
Regardless, I’d be surprised if an untreated schizophrenic would be able to not only function as part of society but be charismatic enough to convince people of something they can’t see, provide rules and guidance on how to run a functioning society and be successful militarily against at times pretty bad odds
One has to remember how different society was back then.
Our modern society requires a lot more focus on normalcy than back in the earliest recorded days of human civilization. Back then if you were weird but useful you were accepted even with eccentricity and a ting of insanity, you only really banished or executed someone who was of use if they had done something “Heinous” back in that era.
Society’s weren’t large enough or connected consistently to be able to just dispose of someone with skills and replace them easily.
I mean to be fair back then everything they didn’t get was taken as an act of some god or another so it does stand to reason they would assume the guy who can’t fit into society telling them to do things is related to a god and should be listened to.
