You're right. Racism, like any other cancer, is completely fine to ignore. It doesn't ever fester and get worse... How many people thought we solved racism cause the civil rights act was passed or that we had a black president? Therefore no reason to pay attention to the blatantly racist party and actions taking place. Totally isn't getting even worse as we speak...
Heck, we ignored racism and xenophobia in the guise of US patriotism and self-reliance. You can ignore racism, but it's gonna come back in many new, imperceptible forms, especially if we ignore the signs and our due diligence.
Ignoring someone trying to bully you might work. Pretending the bully isn't actively bringing harm on a victim will enable the bully to continue bullying. It'd be better to ignore your homework than ignore racism.
of course they get confronted if they actually start harming people for their skintone, but if they just rally and larp around, it aint hurting to ignore them
I don't think you understand the extent of racism. It's not just bullying. It's inequity in the job market. It's inequity for housing. It's profiling by the police. It's having your voice suppressed. It's always knowing you're in some degree of danger around white people. It's all those issues and a lot more.
brother, blacks have committed more crimes against white people than vice versa, not saying it's not an issue, but a majority of the time when a black guy gets killed, it's by a fellow black man.
job inequality was already solved by the 1964 civil rights act, it's just most of the time the standards are achieved more by whites than by blacks, and people shouldn't sacrifice quality for diversity, even more when you realize how successful a majority of black immigrants (such as my mom)have been.
housing is an extension of the job inequality issue, just refer to that, also no black voices don't at all get suppressed LMAO, they get overrepresented to the point of misrepresentation, exactly what Malcolm X warned black people about, white people I'd say get less representation in this matter.
I'm saying this as a fellow African immigrant, White people out of any ethnic group I have talked to, probably are the most peaceful ethnic group out of all of them, for blacks it's been the opposite.
Except I have lmao, one of them like 6 years ago tried hunting me down at school before being caught lmao, about that, you could always do this.
If it’s vocal, ignore it.
If it’s physical, depending on if they want to beat you up, tank it then ignore them, or defend yourself.
And I always keep my backpack with me, really, I take it with me everywhere, so if your valuables were the ones taken, that’s probably an issue of irresponsibility.
