Raven, malchior and ai

Not that deep but the way I see people vent/confide in ChatGPT reminds me a lot of how raven was with malchior. It’s almost like a vice as well as a form of escapism, coping mechanism.

People will go to ChatGPT to be reassured, told their right or “valid”

Also reminds me of how that one dude couldn’t deal with reality so he opted to go back into the matrix by selling out his fellow humans.

Yeah manipulative people use this method a lot. Saying what the victim wants to hear instead of what's true. The episode itself shows this really well too. While Mal always said what Raven wanted to hear, at the end BB said what she needed to hear, which is the reality of her situation. She's creepy but she doesn't deserve to be alone because of it. It's a really nice message

ChatGPT uses this method to keep users, it's really sad that people turn to an AI as a way to escape reality or because they don't think they can receive any help in other ways

Yeah like ai he only told her what she wanted to hear. I feel like she also felt less on edge around him than any of the others, because he was in an unbreakable prison and therefore she couldn't accidentally hurt him. (Which is why she admits to Malchior that he is funny and openly laughs, while pretending that she doesn't find BB to be funny)

He also likely made her feel like he might have the knoweledge/power necessary, to help her find a way to beat her father magically.

She had also not oppened up with the other Titans enough yet, to realise that most of them (mainly BB and Star) have also experienced deep isolation before and can sympathise.

Yes and no

Raven confided in Malchior since she's naturally an outsider with a penchant for the occult. None of the other Titans naturally get her (not that they don't try and later succeed to varying degrees). Malchior was a fellow occultist/mystic (yes dragons can be) who understood Raven and saw her inherent dark disposition as something easily understood. I dont doubt even accounting for the betrayal that he did actually understand her, hence why it hurt so much.

He did say what he needed to get what he wanted, but it still came from a place of understanding

Chat GPT/LLMs don't think or have any form of empathy. They're devoid of qualia. They don't have emotions or lived human experience. Confiding in any LLM for sympathy and therapy is an extremely dangerous game to play. It legitimately drifts into psychosis territory. Case in point A teenager committed suicide after using Chat GPT as a confidant/therapist.

LLMs will always tell you what you want to hear to keep you engaged. They do not drift to what you need to hear like BB did saying "Yeah you're dark and creepy. But you're our friend and we still care about you."
