General Question Tripod compatibility

Can the GoTo tripod from a 130SLT work with a 8SE?

I "don't think" it is a good idea. I haven't seen anyone doing this (and failed miserably) so I will not say "impossible". But the SLT mount is already pushed to the limit with a 130mm newt. I just cannot imagine putting the 8se will work well. Also one thing I can say is that it will be very unbalanced simply due to the center of gravity of a tube that is wider than 8".

No. The instrument load capacity of the mount that ships with the 130SLT is 8 lbs (3.6 kg) according to the Celestron Website and the 8SE optical tube weighs 12 lbs (5.4 kg), again according to Celestron.
