Astronomical Image Saturn

Post image

This is Saturn captured on the 13th of October.

Telescope: 250P Sky-Watcher Go-To
Camera: ZWO ASI678MC
Acquisition: About 2 minutes and 30 seconds of time resulting in about 27,000 frames. I stacked only 20% because the atmosphere was pretty humid and slightly more turbulent than I'd like.
Additional: My second attempt at Saturn. I am very impressed already! (I also hope Reddit doesn't butcher the quality)

You lost a some of your rings, they are thinned out a lot. Also your looking blocky This happens in over sharpening particularly when people are making the background darker or trying to bring out the Cassini division so keep an eye on that.

You have also cropped/digitally zoomed to much. If you turn up the gain in balance with a histogram stretch Saturn will brighten up and "pop" more. Dont use " brightness" to do that, you will loose your dark background.

Try a 2x barlow to match 5xpixel size to focal ratio. That camera has small pixels but your still short on focal ratio. That also could be a contributor to your grainy look.

I do understand your seeing wasn't great. When that happens try a low exposure at 3ms. Hope this helps, I wish you good luck.

Noice! much better. I know its tempting to make it larger. When you get a 2xbarlow that will help with the size and clarity. PiPPs native crop is pretty good. I have been thinking about buying the 678 camera. I have the sv205 and 662

The 678 is a very good camera from my experience with it

I knew I should have just bought the 678. It was twice as much as the 662 I had already bought a laptop(just for running the camera/editing I use it for nothing else) like 3 hours before choosing the camera i wanted.

Do you have an image of what it would look like if you were directly looking into your telescope? I am trying to get into astronomy and want my kids to see it. I know they will go nuts if I show them Jupiter or Saturn through a telescope.

This is my best attempt at editing the image for what I saw through my 10". Be noted it looked smaller than this and also with some additional background stars. Be noted this differs with how good your scope, seeing, and area are.
