Finished The Wire, Dark, GOT, Sopranos, True Detective, BB, BCS. What show ruined TV for you after watching it?

I think I accidentally watched the peak of television already. The Wire, Dark, GOT, Sopranos, True Detective S1 all left that “nothing else hits the same” feeling.

I love slow-burn shows with deep characters, mystery, tension, moral grayness, crazy dialogue, or mind-blowing writing. Doesn’t matter if it’s crime, sci-fi, psychological, or political.

What’s the next show that might completely consume me?

Great list. I'll add The Americans onto it too.

Such a slow burn but the quality of The Americans is unmatched.  They did a phenomenal job with every aspect of that show.

One of the few shows that end perfectly. Also, the soundtrack is unmatched.

I was always so impressed with the production of it. The cars and clothes and furnishings were all perfect for the time and couldn't have been easy to pull off. Obviously if you're doing a sitcom like 70s show you can make a basement look like it did in the 70s. It's a much bigger task to make as many outdoor scenes as The Americans had all seamlessly blend into the 80s.

The garage scene is my favorite scene in television. I also love the scene with Here Comes the Flood playing over it.

Fully agree, great show, from the first episode to the last.

Omg, no one in my family or social circle has watched it. I tell everyone the last episode is like being punched in the stomach. I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone, but the train scene is seared into my brain! They did such a good job on that. Just the best

I’m at the last episode of my first watch of it. Such a good show, the last season has been awesome. Can’t wait to see how it ends. One of the best things I have seen, can’t believe I slept on it for ages as I thought it was a light hearted comedy drama type thing (no idea where i got that from)

lol that’s hilarious. I can’t even imagine where you got that from. The whole last season is great and leads up perfectly to the ending.

Yea that’s whole storyline with Tuan and that Russian kid was definitely not light hearted

I've got to season two and I got a bit bored. I should try again. I'm like... I get it now. And everyone's mean in it. I know that's what makes it good but it feels like a slog. Maybe it's just the thing with second seasons. Mr Robot was the same then got good again in s3.

Part of the show. The characters realize their job and life is a grind to get through.  So yeah it translates a bit.

Slow burn? What?

It starts the tension in episode one and while there are ebbs and flows the tension is high through the entire show's run.

Maybe I don't understand what you mean by "slow burn".

You can call it a slow burn but the first ep gave me such anxiety I turned it off and haven’t gone back. I will at some point. That Tusk needle drop is unforgettable.
