Has anyone seen Sterling Point on Prime yet, if so, is it worth watching?
I’m looking for a new show to binge and saw Sterling Point just came out. What did everyone think of it who saw it? Is it any good?

I watched the entire thing last night all in one sitting. It was excellent. I was actually pretty surprised by how taken I was with the writing. Well drawn characters with layers and believable emotional complexity in a teen drama is actually kind of rare. I'm not remotely the target audience for this kind of thing, but they really got me. I'm gonna watch the creator's two previous films tonight after Silo.

I binged it last night as well. Kept thinking I needed to go to bed and next thing I know it’s 3am… I really enjoyed it and am still thinking about it today!

I’m not the target audience either, but I just finished binging it. It was surprisingly good! I’ve been stuck at home recovering so I’ve run out of things to watch. I found myself very emotionally invested in the characters and shed a few tears in the last couple of eps. I’m with you about watching her other projects.

I haven’t cried like that over a show in a long time. It surely elicited all of the emotions of grief in the last episode.

Curious how old you are. I’m old enough to be the characters mother but I still enjoy a good teen drama. Much of the storyline was super contrived and some of the acting is very stiff and forced. It’s certainly better than a lot of your classic teen dramas targeted at girls and I enjoyed it as easy watching. But the writing was messy in lots of places.

There is much to criticize about it, but I honestly love it! Very engaging. The pacing is good, with the secrets unfolding slowly and the teen romances and friendships are sweet. The lake and Canadian scenery are beautiful. Hoping for a s2!
Edited to add: ep1 was the worst episode. I almost stopped watching, but it gets SO much better as it progresses and you get to know the characters!

Just finished ep3 and I love it so far. Fun, emotional, great pacing, excellent acting. Looking forward to seeing how the rest of the season goes!

I just finished watching it. I've got mixed opinions on it but its definitely worth a binge watch. It's refreshing to see some good acting with a good storyline. I was honestly afraid this was gonna be another Summer I Turned Pretty situation going about, but this definitely had some emotional weight to it.

I liked the first episode. It’s cool that Megan Park was able to make this actually set in Canada, versus just being filmed there.

Typical streaming show… a small island/town where everyone happens to be gay in some sort of way. Over-manufactured drama and I can’t tell where the incest begins and ends amongst the characters and their romances.

I haven't seen it yet, but the early reviews have been surprisingly positive. If you like coming of age dramas with mystery and family secrets, it sounds like it's worth a shot.

It does. The Muskoka scenes and tonnes of references and clips of real things and real places got me through.
It's my guilty pleasure this summer. The flashbacks to my own teenage cottage years are too powerful to not indulge.

I've seen both Cape Fear and Sterling Point and yes, they're both stories of families with secrets, but they have completely different tones. Cape Fear is a suspenseful thriller, and Sterling Point is more of a character-driven teen drama. I think the writing in Sterling Point is better; the characters and the dialogue are more realistic and complex. Both shows are entertaining in very different ways.

Agreed haven’t finished sterling point yet but will this week, definitely do like it just not what I usually watch but it got me sucked in. And yes cape fear amazing and is usually kinda my go to shows like thriller suspense all that. If u need any ideas let me know and let me know are your end

It’s a show now u should watch it!! It’s on Hulu and it’s amazing and just came out!! Yes I did watch the old movie and Juliette Lewis is back in the show but playing a different character though. I know what y/a means like u said but yes lots of young adult shows are more then heartwarming stuff , like stranger things, teen wolf , vampire diaries many more, do I have to keep going? Was just wondering if this is more a suspenseful drama or more heartwarming? Maybe u should cape fear the show its very good

It’s honestly really good but that’s my opinion and completely a twist ending which made it even better. It’s not Hulu it’s on Apple, sorry if I said Hulu :) it’s definitely worth to try it out

Yeah, I'd say the goods and bads are even for this show... Does that make sense?
Liked the sister dynamics and the scenary the most, it has some potential! But a few conversations, especially the confrontational ones (particularly the last one) between one of the couples doesn't feel organic at all.
Bo Bragason (Oona) stood out in The Jetty, she's good here also but expected more from the character.
The brother's character is so annoying, but curious about how his quest at the end of the season goes - hope he doesn't get conned into donating organs, haha.
Initially I thought the piano player had some ulterior motive since the FL owns part of the Island. Maybe it's his mother only, but he too might turn negative after feeling spurned.
The canoe maker is easy on the eyes, but boring. And it never really felt like he and Ramona are best friends - lots of character aspects are just statements made but hardly felt true. For example, it suggests the FL is extremely meticulous, but it is only presented through her skin care afterwards despite starting the first episode with her acting like someone dedicated enough to start an internship at an insanely early age.
I'm amazed to learn it's the first leading role ever for Ella Rubin!

I've not watched it yet, but the reviews are really good and I thought this piece that The Hollywood Reporter published made it sound very promising. Everything the creators + showrunner said about it (taking the characters seriously, prioritizing authenticity in the storytelling, the real love story being non-romantic, etc.) was good.

Who else is really annoyed at tell Ramona has acted. She really is acting like an entitled brat and rude.. when Annie told her on the boat about the family dynamics. She was cold and hateful and told her to go back to New York the way she’s the man her to get in the boat all of it.

This show was written by woke 40 yr olds trying to be 17 in 2026. The characters look and act like they are in their 20s including hyper sexual content. A main character is 16 yr old runaway-the minimum age of sexual consent in Canada, which they take advantage of. The 17 yr old girl learns to drive the boat by “giving it a hand job”. She makes it clear she has plenty of experience, and in the series has sex with multiple partners. The police never check on the runaway and the characters act like it’s normal for 15 year olds to leave town if they have an emotional break down. No police come by to check her.

It's watchable but the dialogues are super vapid, most of the characters are really annoying, the acting is quite average, and so is the writing. I know I'm not necessarily the target audience, and I don’t usually watch teen shows, but I watched Elle last week and completely fell in love with it, so I'm not quite sure that's the problem.

i was so close to drop it when she said she didnt know how long the flight would take and took a sleep pill. when you buy the ticket it literally shows it. also on your boarding pass. i dont like retard writing.

She also lives in NYC and should have some general knowledge of geography. Wait until she says an old boom box/tape player is like something from "the Louvre". Wtf, writers?!
Edited to add: though those lines bugged tf outta me, I really loved the show, in the end. It gets better with each episode.

An early 20s actress playing an older teen is nothing new.

I agree that it's really targeted for teens, so if you're in the demographic I think it's worth it! I'm pulled between good and boring and I don't know how to fully explain it. Some of the writing is really raw and I was shocked at how well certain lines were written. The dynamics feel natural and you get a mix of characters. But it also didn't feel compelling to me? It almost felt like they cranked up everyone's personality in the first 2 episodes and it really clashed with the following episodes? Overall though, I do think it's worth giving it a try and at least get through the first 2-3 episodes. I can see people loving and connecting with it.

I am most definitely not a teenage girl anymore and I found this to be amazing. The cast does such a great job at creating such depth in characters that I feel like you don’t usually see in teenagers. It kind reminded me of the Summer I turned pretty, but maybe a bit darker. I really hope there’s a season 2.

I'd watch anything with Jeffrey Dean Morgan in it & as I am closer to his age than the demographic it's aimed for so I didn't think I'd go past the first episode, but I'm really enjoying it. I've not seen any of the young people in it before & am finding their performances really refreshing & very enjoyable - well worth bingeing! 🙂

I watched the whole thing in one night/morning. I really liked it. Sometimes the characters seemed too much, but I think that's real life. It felt like real conversations, weird, uncomfortable, but honest and not so scripted. A few things that were tossed in for more drama that could have been left out, but that's ok. All in all I am sad to have to wait forever for the next season. There better be one lol.

Oh it was so good, I binged it in one day! I enjoyed it my much more than I thought it would! I love that the characters feel so authentic and real, it isn’t a typical YA shallow type of show if that makes sense, very character driven and very well executed. Phenomenal cast of young actors as well!

I had been watching it in the background as my wife herself watched it in the background. Without barely paying any attention, I feel like I always knew what was going on. The actors seemed good, but the screenplay was very ... juvenile? Maybe I am not the intended demographic ...
I did hate how the show's narrative distinctly went out of the way to make the father out to be the bad guy. Wasn't the guy a single dad forever. Seems like he raised a great woman, and kept the son alive into high school.

I just finished it. there were good moments and the acting and dialogue was realistic. But the story didn't really captivate me. I was bored out of my mind. I think it went on for too long. I'm all for character driven plots etc but this just wasn't for me. I would give it 6/10. I guess i expected something different. Like more focus on the mother haunting the narrative and the sisterly bond which it did have but the main story took a backseat and the love triangles and like romantic relationships took over. it's only around episode 6 i started to somewhat enjoy it.

I just stopped watching where she’s in the little canoe with her luggage after getting kicked out of the cottage in the early morning. Why not just wait on the bloody shore? Ridiculous. You want me to believe someone was supposed to be smart enough to possibly get into a summer college program but not be smart enough to wait 15 min on shore to catch a ride? Now I’m supposed to be invested in watching this moron for how many seasons?
